It now appears certain that Spanish teen hoops phenom Ricky Rubio's pro debut in the United States will not take place in the Las Vegas NBA Summer League, which comes to town July 10-19.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, who selected Rubio No. 5 overall in last month's NBA draft, released their 2009 summer league roster on Thursday, with Rubio's name nowhere to be found.

It's still unknown as to whether Rubio will be traded from Minnesota to another NBA club, or stay in Spain to play pro ball for a few more seasons.

Instead, the Timberwolves will send the two first round picks who appear ready to grab spots on the regular season roster -- Syracuse point guard Jonny Flynn (No. 6 overall) and North Carolina sharpshooter Wayne Ellington (No. 28). Also on the roster is former first round pick Corey Brewer, who starred in last year's summer league but missed the brunt of the 2008-09 regular season after suffering from a torn ACL.
