It's official. The Las Vegas 51s' new major league parent club -- or should I say organ-I-zation -- is the Toronto Blue Jays.
An announcement will be made Monday at Cashman Field where 51s president and general manager Don Logan and Blue Jays director of player development Dick Scott will speak to the media ... and anybody else who might show up.
The 51s had been affiliated with the Los Angeles Dodgers since 2001 until the Dodgers, citing the lack of baseball and other amenities at Cashman Field, ended the arrangement last week to return to Albuquerque, which has a modern ballpark and almost as many Dodgers fans as Las Vegas.
The Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate was in Syracuse for 31 seasons. But management there apparently felt the Jays weren't providing the Chiefs with enough talent to be successful.
So at least somebody in minor league baseball believes winning and losing is more important to a team's success than giveaway bobblehead dolls.
