NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series wraps up at LVMS

Rain stalled the Short Line Express Market Gambler Shootout at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, but the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series’ final event of the season wrapped up on Monday with dozens of drivers winning their respective class titles.

Shawn Cowie, of Richmond, B.C., wheeled his Top Alcohol Dragster to the winner's circle and was joined by Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Steve Harker of Gainesville, Ga.

More than 800 cars competed in the 44th race of the year with Comp Eliminator driver Dan Fletcher wrapping up his third national championship, by taking his second win in Las Vegas in as many weeks.

Lee Zane, of Perry Hall, Md., beat Tibor Kadar, Peoria, Ariz., in the Stock Eliminator final today — marking Zane's second national title in the category.

Frank Grossi, Upland, Calif., beat out Justin Lamb of Henderson, Nev., for the Super Stock crown.

In Super Comp, Mitch Mustard, Arvada, Colo., recorded a victory over Chad Langdon, La Mirada, Calif., while Ryan Herem, Quartz Hills, Calif., wheeled his Super Gas entry to a win.

Montrose, Colo., racer Justin Beaver grabbed the Super Street title. The Top Sportsman win went to Joseph Mohana of Bourg, La., while Lake Havasu, Ariz. Native Les Figueroa earned the Top Dragster honor.

In Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley Davidson, Brian Johnson, Anoka, Minn., defeated Aaron Pine of La Mirada, Calif. Doug Vancil of Cedar Crest, N.M., recorded victory in In the Top Fuel Harley exhibition class.
