Glen Gulutzan barely had time to notice Wednesday afternoon when a team official asked if he’d like fans to send the Wranglers off to Cincinnati for the start of the ECHL Kelly Cup Finals this weekend.
“No problem,” said the Las Vegas coach and general manager. “The guys appreciate it. We’ve got some good loyal fans rooting for us.”
The Wranglers will leave for McCarran International Airport from the Orleans Arena on Thursday at 11 a.m., and fans can gather at a designated area to the northeast of the building.
Las Vegas starts the first championship series in its five-year history Saturday in Cincinnati, and Game 2 will be played Sunday.
The series shifts back to Las Vegas for Games 3 and 4, respectively, on May 29 and May 30. If needed, Game 5 will be played at the Orleans Arena on June 2.
“We’ve got a little more work to do,” Gulutzan said. “We’re not staring at the screen, by any means. I don’t think anyone has reinvented the wheel. We’ve picked out some tendencies.
“First and foremost, the way we play is in order. We’ll have everything we want to do ready to go for Saturday.”
