Live from the media room

We’ve made it to the media room here at UFC 86 in Mandalay Bay. The room is filled with reporters and TV people eating cookies while surrounded by 5-foot-high posters of tonight’s stars.

The posters are pretty sweet. The UFC should mass market them. I’d pay $20 to have a Rampage poster in my office.

For now there’s not a lot going on. It’s still at least an hour before the first fight.

On the way to Mandalay I stopped by the Wildfire Casino on Sunset Road. It was about 45 minutes before Chuck Liddell’s scheduled appearance at the locals joint. Already at least 200 people were lined up to get an autograph from “The Iceman.”

The sport is getting more popular by the minute.

The fans are still lined up outside the Events Center here eager to get in and the main event will not happen for about five hours.

One devotee asked to pose with me because I have a sweet press pass that includes a photo of Rampage and Forrest. I declined. I hope that doesn’t make me a heel.
