On the night before UFC 81 fight fans can warm up with a few rumbles at the Las Vegas Sports Center on Sunset Road.

The Feb. 1 event is being promoted by the local guys at Tuff-N-Uff and the nationally known fellas at Bodog Fight.

The main event pits Bodog veteran Nick Thompson (33-9-1) against John Troyer (8-0), who has fought mostly in smaller shows in the Midwest.

The card also features Las Vegan Chris Kennedy in a four-man, 170-pound tournament. Kennedy, a Metro cop, most recently fought in the IFL and is a training partner of RJ Richter, who I profiled last year.

Plus, a guy named Waachim Spiritwolf will fight. He just sounds tough.

Oh, and two women's bouts are scheduled.

Sure, it’s not exactly Brock Lesner vs. Frank Mir. But tickets don’t cost three weeks pay. You can get in the smaller venue for $30.

And, take it from us, these smaller shows can be as exciting as the big boys.
