Bishop Gorman's American Legion baseball team advanced to Tuesday's World Series championship game with an 11-9 come-from-behind win over Sumter (S.C.) in the double-elimination event held in Shelby, N.C. on Sunday.
Gorman -- which plated four runs in the sixth inning, and added a pair of runs in the eighth -- was led by Jeff Malm's 2-for-4 performance at the plate, including a home run and four RBIs. Paul Sewald picked up the victory for the Titans, who improved to 73-7-1 on the season and will play today at 5 p.m. against South Richmond (Va.). No matter the outcome, Gorman has already guaranteed itself a date in the title tilt.
