Brandon Trodick had a wedding, his older brother’s, to attend Friday night, so he needed to get off the College of Southern Nevada baseball diamond at 2:35 p.m.
First, the sophomore slugger had some business to tend to for the Coyotes, and he slugged an early three-run homer against Salt Lake Community College.
At 2:34, he stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. At 2:36, he rounded the bases after belting a grand slam. He kept running, high-fiving teammates through the dugout.
And he kept running, into the clubhouse, into the shower, into his tuxedo. He was gone.
James Bond, baseball edition.
His seven RBIs helped the Coyotes drub Salt Lake, and CSN went on to sweep four games from the Bruins over the weekend to take over solo possession of first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
With one weekend left, CSN (37-14, 26-10 in league) is in position to play host to the SWAC tournament, which goes to the regular-season champion of the conference.
The four defeats left Salt Lake (31-18, 23-13) in third place. Western Nevada (31-30, 25-11) fell a pace behind CSN when it lost one of four games to lowly Colorado Northwestern.
CSN plays two doubleheaders at Southern Idaho (30-22, 21-15) this weekend, and the Coyotes took three of four from CSI at Morse Stadium in Henderson earlier this season. Western Nevada plays host to Eastern Utah (11-40, 7-29).
If CSN sweeps CSI, it clinches home field, and a first-round bye, in the tournament.

If you look back to April 11th of this year you will see that Southern nevada also lost to Lowly
Colorado Northwestern. HA! Will see who's on top at the end of next weekend when Southern nevada has
to play Southern Idaho at there house. If you remember Western Nevada wins the tie breaker since they
beat Southern Nevada 6 out of 8 games this year.
