UNLV's DeShawn Mitchell flies in for an uncontested slam dunk in the final minutes of a 25-point win against Texas-Pan American on Nov. 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Former UNLV guard DeShawn Mitchell didn't take long to select his next hoops destination, as he will head to Lawrenceville, N.J., and play for Rider.

Mitchell, who averaged 1.6 points in 21 appearances as a freshman for the Rebels, left the program last month and will now play in his home state.

The Broncs, who play in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, went 19-13 last season. Their most notable recent hoops alum was Jason Thompson, who the Sacramento Kings took with the 12th pick in last June's NBA Draft.

Mitchell will sit out next season per NCAA transfer rules, and will have three years of eligibility remaining come the 2010-11 season.

  1. No ill feelings from me D-Show. Hope things work out for you @ Rider.

  2. Good luck, DeShawn. The MAAC is a decent league. Practice hard while you sit out and you'll do fine.

  3. Well, I'm sure you won't do any better academically there. So good luck, you'll need it!
