UNLV gets commitment — with a twist — from Arbor View’s Kenny Mack

How's this for a twist on the recruiting trail?

On Thursday, the Rebels drew their fifth commitment for the class of 2010, and landed their first local prospect in the process, getting Arbor View defensive lineman Kenny Mack.

But Mack may wind up being a part of the class of 2009, instead.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder who had 53 tackles and a sack a year ago, will actually graduate from high school next month. See, with a father in the military, he attended high school as a freshman in Germany, but only learned recently of those credits transferring towards his education in the United States.

Mack has yet to take the standardized tests that most high school juniors take, but could wind up doing so soon to potentially play for UNLV next fall.

The Rebels may have caught a bit of a steal in the process, as it's believed that Mack was on the verge of exploding on the recruiting radar next fall.

UNLV in the last week landed 4 other commitments for the 2010 crop.

They are ...

--RB/DB Dionza Bradford, 6-foot, 190 pounds, Serrano HS/Phelan, Calif. (In 2008: 1,544 yds., 22 TDs, 47 tackles, 3 INT)

--DE Everett Beed, 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Serrano HS/Phelan, Calif. (72 tackles, 5 sacks)

--LB Austin Arias, 6-foot, 215 pounds, Centennial HS/Peoria, Ariz.

--DT Quentin Jones, 6-foot, 311 pounds, Northland HS/Columbus, Ohio
