Two points and one last dance -- that’s all that separates Flamingo headliner Donny Osmond from waltzing away with the prized mirrored disco ball trophy on Season 9 of Dancing With the Stars that ends tonight. Click HERE for our coverage of last night’s telecast.

The fate of Donny and partner Kym Johnson rests entirely in the hands of viewers, and based on previous voting, he could cruise past singer Mya, with her partner Dmitry Chaplin, who leads him 87 to 85 after last night. Kelly Osbourne placed third with partner Louis Van Amstel with 76. Donny said: “Obviously, we want to win. I would be thrilled if Kym wins it. I just can’t believe we’ve come so far.”
Tonight’s two-hour broadcast will star Whitney Houston and a return appearance by Cloris Leachman and Jerry Springer, who will commute between his hosting duties for America’s Got Talent Live at Planet Hollywood. Our UFC champion Chuck Liddell also will be there dancing one more time since his ouster.
On his last dance, Donny scored perfect 10s across the board from the judges, who raved over his Broadway-Las Vegas-Hollywood-themed dance number. Said Donny: “I promised something unique, something high energy. We were all over the stage and the dance floor. We had to pull out all the stops. I still can’t believe we scored a perfect 30. I am in shock.”
Kelly talked last night about dancing with foot injuries: “The numbing is starting to wear off. I’m getting the pain back. I have flat feet. I tore cartilage in my feet. I’m going to have to have surgery. I didn’t talk about this before because I didn’t want to get the sympathy vote. It’s like when you have a cavity in your teeth, only it’s in your foot. It’s worse because of the three-inch heels. That makes it really bad. It’s really painful.”
Mya added: “This has been the most brutal week of rehearsal. I had to book two massages this week. It’s really been a journey. We’ve been blessed to stay in this competition. If you’re in front of people where money is on the line, you have to be great at all times. We’ve all been working hard. We want to make sure no one thinks we’re lazy -- even if we make mistakes. With four dances for the finals, I pray that our bodies hold up, but I'm having the time of my life.”
This season’s high scorers, Mya and Dmitry have been at the top of the leaderboard five of the nine weeks, but in four of the nine DWTS seasons, the couple with the highest overall scoring average did not win. Last year, Gilles Marini scored better than Shawn Johnson but still lost. Other scoring leaders who didn’t win are Mel B in season 5, Mario Lopez in Season 3 and John O’Hurley in Season 1.
Obviously, we’re betting -- and rooting -- for Donny to fly back to Las Vegas the winner. “I promise not to rub that in Marie’s face,” he laughed. Meantime, Donny’s co-headliner at the Flamingo Nathan Burton told me that all the Las Vegas magicians also will be supporting Donny in the finale because he is such a big fan of magic.
We will tweet the winner instantly tonight, and then follow as fast as possible with the Vegas DeLuxe report and victory photo. Tomorrow, we’ll be back with all the other photos of the big season finale.
