For the second time in less than a year, America’s favorite brother and sister duo Donny & Marie Osmond have won a contract renewal as headliners at the Flamingo. They let the news slip on NBC’s Today being broadcast from Pure’s outdoor patio overlooking the Strip this morning. Flamingo officials afterwards confirmed to me that the entertainers have signed through October 2012.

It was back on Sept. 9 last year that Donny and Marie began their run, and after just six weeks of phenomenal box office sales, the original six-month contract was extended through 2010.

“Donny and Marie are amazing professionals who come to work every night and really leave it all onstage, which is why they continue to be the hottest ticket in town a year after opening,” said Don Marrandino, president of Flamingo Las Vegas. “They have re-created the magic of legendary performers on the Strip with their incredible talent, and we are thrilled to have them as our headliners for at least the next three years.”

“I guess this is a lease-to-own situation," joked Marie from backstage. “It’s great that the Flamingo is so happy with our show that they want us to park it for another two years. We love the Vegas audiences, so it’s all good.”

“You mean I have to work with my sister for another two years?” laughed Donny. “All kidding aside, we love it at the Flamingo, and we’re excited to continue to entertain the audiences here in Las Vegas for the next few years.”

Donny and Marie’s energetic, 90-minute variety show that incorporates singing, dancing, comedy and the stars’ signature brother-sister banter was produced by the late Wynn headliner Danny Gans and his manager partner Chip Lightman, whose entertainment company continues on with the twosome.

During their stay, Marie has moved to a new home here in Henderson with her family, and she’s expected to headquarter her new syndicated TV show at the Flamingo this fall. Donny has built his own recording audio and video studio in his dressing room backstage at the Flamingo. He commutes to and from his Utah home weekly when he doesn’t stay in his Flamingo suite.

Rumblings about the new two-year deal surfaced at the weekend roast for Flamingo President Don that we reported here two days ago -- click HERE for that story. I told you to expect an official confirmation very shortly, and here it is this morning!
