Last night was an evening that felt like New Year’s Eve three weeks early, as Las Vegas was packed to the rafters, and the Strip was filled.
Metallica rocked at Mandalay Bay, Robin Williams performed at MGM Grand, the National Finals Rodeo was at Thomas & Mack Center, and the NASCAR star drivers were still partying at the end of its first Champions Week in Las Vegas.
Plus, nearly 30,000 marathon runners were getting ready for their first Las Vegas Rock and Roll Marathon that kicked off this morning.
It was the weekend that Sammy Hagar also opened his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile and was surprised by good friend country king Kenny Chesney onstage.
So how did Sammy top his Cabo Wabo Friday? He decided that it would be perfect to welcome his rock and roll buddies, so his band Chickenfoot took to the stage in The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel last night. Chickenfoot is Sammy, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, guitarist Joe Satriani and bassist Michael Anthony.
Our contributing photographer Scott Harrison was front and center for our first rock photo gallery today. Later, we’ll have the Metallica shoot, where Tom Donoghue was on duty after the rodeo.
