* Paris Hilton and her steady beau, rocker Benji Madden, turned up to help little sister, Nicky, celebrate her 25th birthday over a two-day festival of fun. It all began for Nicky and her steady boyfriend, David Katzenberg, at the sushi-sashimi hotspot Social House in Treasure Island. The Hilton heiresses met up with their showman pal Jeff Beacher for a dinner of mini-Kobe burgers, chicken teriyaki and sushi rolls. Then they all made a grand entrance at the LAX nightclub in the Luxor as the DJ played the Paris single "Stars Are Blind." The celebrity sisters took a VIP stage booth and switched between Patron tequila and Belvedere vodka cocktails.
Night Two began with a private birthday dinner at the quiet Company American Bistro in the Luxor, where Nicky is an investor. Her parents, Kathy and Rick Hilton; best friend, Hollywood interior designer Faye Resnick; and color king Michael Boychuck, who has his hands in both Paris and Nicky’s hairstyles, all were there partying.
Observers noted that Paris and Benji’s romance is getting stronger than ever. “She has a very genuine smile these days of someone who is in a very happy place -- not practiced and posed, just genuinely happy,” my photographer Scott Doctor told me. It’s the same for Nicky and David, and in fact the two possible future sons-in-law bonded beautifully in conversation and hugs with the Hilton heads, Rick and Kathy.
* Kathy and Rick Hilton, proud parents of Paris and Nicky, took a break from their daughters with dinner at the Tao Asian bistro in the Venetian. After feasting on Chilean sea bass and lobster wontons they headed upstairs to the Tao nightclub and took a VIP table on the dance floor alongside boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. He celebrated with a multi-magnum bottle of Moet Rose champagne, which the stunning server brought with sparklers.
* International pop icon Mariah Carey partied at the Bank nightclub in the Bellagio. First, Mariah, hand-in-hand with new husband Nick Cannon, enjoyed dinner at the new Yellowtail Sushi restaurant and bar with six friends. Mariah sipped a Pinot Grigio white wine and enjoyed a diet-conscious miso soup, sans tofu, and tuna sashimi. Nick, however, went for the gusto of Popping Spicy Crab Rolls and other innovative dishes by celebrity chef Akira Back. Then came a mob and fan frenzy as hundreds of screaming fans and dozens of paparazzi shooters jumped on and over slot machines to get a closer look at the hand-holding couple. They walked over to the Bank nightclub and posed briefly -- just 45 seconds -- on the red carpet, with Mariah wearing a way-too-tight corset for her strangely positioned poses.
* The buzz is increasing that pop-princess Britney Spears will be on hand for Randy Jackson’s two-hour New Year's Eve special to be broadcast live by CBS from the Strip. The "American Idol" judge will serve as host and producer of the Planet Hollywood-based rock concert and retrospective look back at the year in music. Over at the Mirage, rival FOX will air the live Robbie Knievel motorcycle jump over the new fiery volcano.
* Twice in three days, music star Ray J was hanging out with Vegas nightclub king Victor Drai. First, Ray J was at Drai’s After Hours club in Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall with former boxing champ Mike Tyson and Miss Washington 2007, Elyse Umemoto, who finished second runner-up in this year’s Miss America pageant. Then Ray J joined rival boxer "Sugar" Shane Mosley for a fun night at Victor’s Tryst nightspot inside the Wynn.
* Heartthrob Mario Lopez was with a small group of all-male friends for his birthday outing on the town at the Bellagio. It was simply a quiet dinner at the Fix restaurant and bar in the Bellagio, and then after-meal drinks in the VIP section of the Bank nightclub.
* After performing at the Danny Gans theater in the Mirage, comedy actors Ray Romano and Kevin James relaxed at the Jet nightclub steps away.
* Actress Mila Kunis, who gained famed on "That 70's Show" and as the voice of Meg Griffin on "Family Guy," dined with a large group of friends at Lavo in the Palazzo before celebrating a friend's birthday in the upper Lavo nightclub.
* Rocker Carlos Santana confirmed during his MGM concert this past weekend that he’ll quit touring in another five years to become a minister with his own church on Maui in Hawaii. Currently on his 23-date "Live your Light" tour, Carlos, 61, says by the time he’s 67 he’ll be playing and preaching at the chapel.
