* Sticking to her promise, "The Girls Next Door" beauty Holly Madison commuted back into the arms of magician Criss Angel yet again this week. The hot celebrity couple returned to their usual VIP table just off the dance floor at LAX at the Luxor and were promptly joined by fellow Luxor headliner Carrot Top. The trio mingled with fans, posed for photos and sipped on Montecristo Rum and Coke cocktails past the midnight hour. Holly set off headlines this week when she was asked about her new “softer, almost-no-makeup look.” The former live-in love of Playboy king Hugh Hefner said that she gave up the heavy makeup look she had at the Playboy Mansion in favor of the more natural look Criss prefers. “Anyway, Criss and I kiss so much there’s no lipstick ever left on,” she laughed.
* Rapper Too Short, who began his career at just age 14, is all grown up now and brought a beautiful girl with him on a dinner-a-deux date. He ordered up N9NE’s rock shrimp starters for them to share and followed with lamb chops for himself and salmon for his date. They stuck to Fiji water, N9NE chardonnay and several espressos!
* Over at N9NE restaurant in George Maloof’s Palms, chef Barry Dakake played host in his kitchen to Major League stars Mike Piazza, Ryan Howard and Tim Lincecum (who just won the National League Cy Young Award). Also dining in N9NE were UFC commentator Joe Rogan and New York Yankee Jason Giambi, who later went up to the Moon nightclub to join singer Jason Mraz after his concert in The Pearl theater there, along with Ryan, who is first baseman for the World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies.
* In addition to his Danity Kane girls, P. Diddy also discovered five guys on his MTV series "Making the Band." Brian Andrews, Mike McCluney, Robert Curry, Willie Taylor and Qwanell Mosley made up Day 26, and all of them will be at Jet in The Mirage to perform songs from their self-titled album Day 26.
* Gorgeous reality star and currently the cover girl model of our sister Vegas magazine, Kim Kardashian hosts a penthouse party at George Maloof’s new Palms Place. We’ll have a full photo report and exclusive interview early next week about her New Year’s Eve plans here on the Strip!
* Taking a night off from marital duties with superstar Mariah Carey, new husband Nick Cannon will be guest DJ to spin the music for dancing at Pure in Caesars Palace.
* DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, continues his amazing medical recovery from a plane crash escape and returns to DJ duty at Pure in Caesars Palace.
* Vegas regular Pauly Shore will play host to fellow comics Bill Maher, Tracy Morgan, Mike Epps, Andrew Dice Clay, among others, at the Comedy Festival after-party at Tao nightclub in The Venetian. … Playboy Playmates Kara Monaco (2006 Playmate of the Year) and Janine Habeck (Playmate of the Year 2005, Germany) host an after-fight party at Tabu Ultra Lounge in MGM. … Superstar singer Rod Stewart’s son Sean, who was treated on the Dr. Drew-hosted Celeb Rehab on VH1, hosts a party at Prive in Planet Hollywood -- so close to all those temptations that put him in rehab the first time around!
* He is the most incredible racecar driver of all time: In a span of nearly five decades, Mario Andretti has racked up more than 100 wins -- and nobody comes even close!
Mario, 68, welcomed a group of high-rollers from The Venetian and Palazzo out to his driving school at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and he told me even he was impressed with some of the 160-plus mph speeds that they achieved. Afterward he joined them at master chef Charlie Trotter’s Restaurant Charlie in the Palazzo for a trophy ceremony, and even I was in awe when I met him.
He told me that behind the wheel, he was “fearless.” He said: “It was always the one place I was the most comfortable being. I drove to win. I didn’t drive to be second. I never thought about anything else, so I wasn’t frightened of anything except losing!”
