* Pop princess Scary Spice is set as one of the two new stars to headline the new topless adult cabaret revue "Peep Show" to open in March at Planet Hollywood.
Melanie Brown will be joined by "General Hospital" star Kelly Monaco, who waltzed her way to winning season one of "Dancing With the Stars" with pro partner Alec Mazo.
Melanie, an English pop singer-songwriter, is best-known in America as the outrageous leopard-print-dressed member of the Spice Girls -- and also for her successful run on "Dancing With the Stars." My old pals on Fleet Street nicknamed her Scary Spice because of her outrageous, in-your-face personality and her voluminously curly hair.
She had auditioned for the band Touch after answering an audition advertisement, and they were eventually discovered by Simon Cowell’s partner, music manager mogul Simon Fuller. He relaunched them as the Spice Girls with Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm.
* For weeks now I've been exclusively reporting inner secrets from the Britney Spears camp that the pop princess was making her comeback under a master plan guided by super-svengali manager Larry Rudolph.
We’ve even reported that Larry and Britney were in negotiations to make it all official with a New Year’s Eve coming out party right here on the Strip.
Now, moments ago in an e-mail alert comes the first confirmations with an advance sneak of a brand new MTV documentary that Britney herself has just posted on her Web site.
The superstar recording artist has some shocking and candid confessions about loneliness in the midst of the rabid fan worship and paparazzi stalkings that follow her wherever she goes. You can hear Britney in her own emotional words now for the first time.
Britney also reveals why she’s jump-starting her career all over again with a new record being released on her birthday, Dec. 2.
As always, we’ll continue to monitor her developing story, and we’ll have official confirmation of the New Year’s Eve Vegas party the moment it’s signed, sealed and delivered.
* Music legend Prince had a new, stunning, dark-haired exotic beauty on his arm -- behind a wall of security bodyguards -- during weekend nightclub visits. After his trip into Tao at The Venetian, he also showed up at new sister nightspot Lavo in the Palazzo to check out DJ Vibe’s twisting turntables. Then he went off to the House of Blues late night at Mandalay Bay and executed a surprise duet with Q-Tip to the rapper’s hit single "Vibrant Thing."
* Caesars Palace headliner Bette Midler took four of her cast friends to "Mindfreak" magician Criss Angel’s new Cirque du Soleil show "Believe" at the Luxor.
* And then there were three. Puff Daddy’s all-girl group Danity Kane has gone from a quintet to a trio! The three remaining members of the pop group -- Shannon Bex, Dawn Richard and Aundrea Fimbres -- turned up at Jet in The Mirage for a special hosting appearance and wound up giving an impromptu performance.
They walked the red carpet and then settled in at a VIP table. Dawn stuck to Sprite, but Shannon and Aundrea enjoyed the well-stocked supply of Dom Perignon champagne and Patron tequila.
They switched to lots of water when they decided to go on stage for a surprise set, which included their hits “Show Stopper,” “Ride for You” and “Damaged.” The jam-packed crowd sang along with the femme fatales and gave them loud applause. The trio then happily posed for fan photos before calling it a night.
* Comedy star Marlon Wayans checked out the bikini beauties and their nightly pageant at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone inside Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile.
* There will be a star-studded turnout tonight for the 15th Annual Holiday Cactus Lighting Party at Ethel’s Chocolate in Henderson. Flamingo headliner comedian George Wallace will join with performers Clint Holmes and Zowie Bowie for a holiday classics sing-along. More than half a million lights will go on to illuminate the three-acre botanical Cactus Garden. Ethel’s will also showcase its “Create Chocolate Create Hope” limited-edition collection benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer charity, which will receive a $10,000 donation.
