* Rocker Ozzy Osbourne got a two-day jump on his birthday with a surprise Las Vegas trip organized by his wife Sharon.
Along with their children Kelly, Jack and Aimee, the Osbournes had an entourage of 25 friends in tow for Ozzy’s birthday visit.
Although his 60th birthday isn’t actually until tomorrow, Sharon decided on an early start last night with a trip to see Cirque du Soleil’s "Love" musical, about the Beatles, at The Mirage.
Sharon, a judge on "America’s Got Talent" and readying a new TV variety showcase series hosted by Ozzy and her a la Sonny and Cher, had made plans for the family to go backstage after the show to meet the cast. When Ozzy, who is a huge Beatles fan, entered the workout area, all of the "Love" performers serenaded him with “Happy Birthday.”
Ozzy and the family posed for photos and chatted with the artists until it was time for them to get ready for their second show of the night and for the Osbournes to leave for the first of their birthday celebration dinners here.
Early this morning, Jack and Kelly Osbourne turned up at Prive nightclub in Planet Hollywood. Jack arrived with several ladies and kept to Evian water while his sister joined the group with more friends shortly after 1 a.m. Ozzy had turned in already, but he and Sharon’s kids watched a special performance by up-and-coming hip-hop star Ron Browz, who sang his hit “Pop Champagne” to the packed crowd.
Also at Prive joining in the fun was former New York Yankees slugger and current free agent Jason Giambi dancing and drinking Ketel One vodka with cranberry juice.
* Advance VIP tickets went on sale at 8 a.m. today for pop queen Britney Spears’ Circus Tour -- and prices for her concert are already through the roof! Britney announced on ABC’s "Good Morning America" this morning that she’ll start a 36-city tour of the U.S., Canada and Britain starting March 3 in New Orleans.
She’s set an 8 p.m. April 25 date at MGM Grand Garden Arena for her Las Vegas stop -- and advance-sale, ringside, VIP platinum-experience tickets were snapped up at $695 each -- and promptly reselling for a package price of $6,000 for two seats! Britmania has erupted on Ticketmaster!
The Pussycat Dolls will be Britney’s opening act on the tour. The L.A.-based singer-dancers were founded by Robin Antin, who opened the Pussycat Dolls Lounge and burlesque inside Caesars Palace.
It’s the first time in five years that Britney will headline an arena tour beginning in her home state of Louisiana. Regular tickets go on sale this Saturday, and the well-choreographed Britney will begin rehearsing for next year’s must-see tour in January.
* The fairytale wedding elopement of "The Hills" stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt turned out to be exactly that -- a fairytale! Now the symbolic union -- not legally binding -- may have to be repeated all over again here in Las Vegas in the New Year to make it real!
Turns out that their runaway nuptials in the millionaire Cabo San Lucas playground in Mexico were really a “made for television” publicity ploy to be shown on Season 5 of the MTV show.
“We will take care of all the legal details when we get home,” said the couple in an official statement while still “honeymooning” for the cameras. Spencer added, “It was a beautiful ceremony, and we’ve never been happier.”
Even if it was a spur-of-the-moment whim, US Weekly had cameras ready and MTV had video cameras to record the whole thing that apparently happened less than 60 minutes after they were drinking margaritas on the beach. "Hills" producer Liz Gately confirmed: “MTV filmed Heidi and Spencer in Mexico as we were expecting to capture them on vacation.”
They literally ran into the wedding chapel at the One&Only Palmilla Resort, which is owned by billionaire builder Sol Kerzner, who is headed for Vegas himself. He plans to build a duplicate of his successful Atlantis resort in the Bahamas alongside the Circus Circus property here on the Strip when economic conditions improve.
* Iron Chef Kerry Simon welcomed one of President Bush’s Cabinet members to his Cathouse restaurant at the Luxor last night. I was there when U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings had dinner among the lingerie-clad servers in the French bordello-themed restaurant. She didn’t even bat an eyelash when the ambiance model stripped down to her skivvies in the one-way-mirrored open dressing room to change into a sexy bedroom number. And she didn't even raise an eyebrow when the bra-baring, stockinged servers brought her a cake to celebrate her weekend birthday! My friend, "Baywatch" beauty Traci Bingham, hosted the party with Hollywood agent Mike Esterman.
* Bond beauty Maud Adams, the Swedish-born actress who appeared in both "Octopussy" and "The Man With the Golden Gun," posed for photos and signed autographs at the Gallery of Legends in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile for three consecutive afternoons over the holiday weekend. She was joined by villain "Jaws" actor Richard Keil, who also appeared in two 007 spy thrillers, "Moonraker" and "The Spy Who Loved Me."
* Hometown UFC fighter Frank Mir helped celebrate a friend’s birthday at Sushi Roku in the Forum Shops of Caesars Palace.
