The Michael McDonald era begins for the state GOP, full of thunder and nonsense and signifying….

Monday, April 23, 2012 | 7:01 a.m.

Ex-las vegas City Councilman Michael McDonald, who was at one time an impeccable vote-counter on Stewart Avenue, is the new chairman of the state Republican Party by a 2-to-1 margin Sunday at the Gold Coast.

What is really worth looking at is the piece McDonald circulated at the central committee Sunday, full of what the kids call LOL rhetoric and some guffaw-inducing endorsements.

My favorite: "It would be my honor to be the thunderous voice that precedes Nevada's mighty Republican Party."

Huh? Translation, please.

Check it out, as well as the ludicrous notion advanced by the likes of GOP state Sen. Mike Roberson and Citizen Outreach boss Chuck Muth that a man convicted twice of wrongdoing by Ethics Commissions and who just last week secured a noxious land deal will be able to take on Democrats and raise millions for the party.
