It all depends on what the definition of “incidental” is: Gamers and taverns and Dotty’s, oh my

A couple of Clark County commissioners this week wrote to state gaming overseers to try to get an interpretation of a regulation that talks about gaming being "incidental" to certain establishments, including those slot establishments dotting the landscape. The commissioners are expected to consider multiple ordinances on April 5 and Chris Giunchigliani and Lawrence Weekly are asking the state to weigh in to help chart their course. Or, it's also possible regulators could make life more difficult for taverns, who rely on gaming, and who have partnered with gaming interests, especially Station Casinos, to stop the proliferation of businesses they think compete without the investment they have. Be careful what you wish for....

This is as controversial a local issue as Las Vegas has seen.

The letter is at right.
