Amodei on Ryan budget, Medicare reforms and “Cut, Cap and Balance” pledge: Maybe

GOP congressional contender Mark Amodei was remarkably noncommittal Monday evening during an appearance on “Face to Face,” insisting he likes the Paul Ryan budget but not enough to vote for it, expressing support for moving the Medicare eligibility age but not enough to commit to it and indicating he liked the “Cut, Cap and Balance” pledge but not enough to sign it.

Folks, the newly minted contender in a House special election, who is eager to woo voters, clearly has commitment issues.

Some examples:

----Ryan budget:

After previously saying he needs to “cozy up” to Wisconsin’s Paul Ryan and “give him whatever support he needs,” Amodei retreated to saying, “He's the only guy who’s put forth a plan.”

But would he vote for the Ryan budget?

“I’m not done studying it.”

----Medicare:

“We have to go back actuarially” and look at the system and the result may be, “Guess what, Mark, maybe your Medicare eligibility is going to move back a few years because we can’t afford to have people eligible at the age we are….”

Does he support that?

“I’m sure going to look at it.”

---- Ryan and his Medicare/voucher reform:

“Great start.”

----Cut, cap and balance:

“I’ve looked at that.”

Will he sign?

“We’re looking real seriously at it.”

Not ready to sign yet?

“Nope, not yet.”

And so it went. I tried, folks.

But I think Amide’s ardor for a victory supersedes his commitment to any position.

But he’s looking into it.
