Wade Wagner, who defeated incumbent Richard Cherchio by one vote only to see his victory cast into doubt, has sued the North Las Vegas City Council for calling for a new election in a precinct where one voter cast a contested ballot.

The action, filed by attorney Todd Bice, alleges the council had no right other than to canvass and certify the one-vote victory by Wagner and no right to call for a new election, as it did last week.

The complaint is at right.

  1. So how is this election going to be funded? By Police & Firefighter retirement funds?

  2. This isn't exactly news, really. Ralston reported on this ahead of last week's council meeting - either way this is going to end up in court.

I'm surprised the dentist waited this long. I'm wondering if, since it's become public knowledge that Keith Buck, NLV's "First Dude" was paid by the Dentist's campaign if he isn't a little slow in getting things together. I personally can't think of a reason to file suit yesterday versus after the election date has been set.

The NRS is clear. A new election must be held in that precinct. The City Council could not, in good faith, canvass results that they knew were tainted. The dentist knows this is only forestalling the inevitable.

  3. Its a Bankrupt Town any way you look at it. How about just dissolving the City Charter and turning in the keys to Clark County. Let them deal with it.
Its ridiculous for the Public (of a region of two million people) to have all these Officials constantly stepping on each others toes and then trying to blame someone else for their failures.
