Sandoval to lawmakers: Don’t pass web poker until feds act, might expose Nevadans to civil, criminal liability

So says Governor Brian Sandoval in a letter to Assembly Judiciary Chairman William Horne, who sponsored the PokerStars bill after a company-sponsored trip to London. The governor, a former Gaming Commission chairman, lays out several points in his letter (thanks to the Sun's Cy Ryan for alerting me to its existence), including allowing the feds to go first, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and gaming companies have argued, not allowing Nevadans to be exposed to civil and/or criminal penalties and not allowing one company (PokerStars) a leg up.

The missive is posed at right. And I have also posted a 2002 DOJ letter to Nevada gaming authorities that clearly says federal law prohibits web gaming.

And here is Ryan's story
