Scott Ashjian has a new web ad calling Harry Reid and Sharron Angle career politicians and saying both are spending machines. Really. It's on the web.

  1. I think it is quite possible that Ashjian is a Harry Reid shill. I find it interesting that Ashjian is in the public view again now that Reid has actually lost a point or two in the polls.

  2. It is very much apparent that Judy has not read anything I have posted elsewhere today, let alone my posting history. :)

  3. Angle wasn't even on the radar when Ashjian first showed up (before Lowden made her chicken comment).

Ashjian might very well hate Reid, but look at the people named as helping to organize his party and you see strong connections back to Reid.

At the time Ashjian first filed, Reid was almost guaranteed to lose to Lowden or Baby Tark. The "TEA Party" name carried a fair amount of influence and would be sure to pull voters away from the Republican party without pulling any Democrats. A third-party candidate who could be called "TEA Party" would be very useful for splitting the Republican vote. In fact, that had already happened in other states, much to the chagrin of the Republican party (NY 20 is a perfect example).

Ashjian pretty much disappeared from the scene once Angle won the nomination and Reid quickly shot ahead of her in the polls, albeit not by much.

But lately, as bad as Angle hoof-in-mouth disease might be, Harry is losing a little ground to where it is now in fact a true dead heat between them. Lo and behold, Ashjian is in the news again.

So it is reasonable to speculate that Reid or his people have had a hand somewhere along the line helping Ashjian along in some fashion. No conspiracy theory here, just good old fashioned politics.

Besides, look at Ashjian's checkered past, he is a tool at most.

  4. I'm just being cynical in this case. Even if Ashjian would not let himself be used by Reid, is he smart enough to know if he was being used? :)

    Agreed, this whole thing stinks.

  5. Yeas Angle is another professional politician that want to give Scientology massages to convicted criminals.

All tea party people should vote for the tea-party not Angle. The tea party is endorsed by Glenn Buck and Sean Hannity. Go tea party.

  6. When I say that I think it is possible that Ashjian is a shill, that makes no inference that he is doing so knowingly. Others have pointed out that Ashjian does not seem to be a good businessman, and his intellectual capability can be called into question.

Therefore one can reasonably poke fun at him and question if he is capable of recognizing that he could be used without his knowledge or consent.

Overall I am cynical about this given where the exposure is coming from. Ashjian might take the view that any publicity is good publicity. But that doesn't take away from the argument that any votes that go to him are votes that won't go to Angle and are therefore good for Reid.

Given how Reid was putting out anti-Lowden ads before the primary it is not unreasonable to think he would try to take advantage of this potential vote-splitter.

In all, there are a few possible scenarios that could be playing out here, all of which are just politics as usual.

  7. Wait a minute. First there were RINO (Republican In Name Only). Now you're telling me that the radical offspring children created by the Republican Party, the Tea Party, are so screwed up in the head they have no unity and each one is claiming the moral high ground?

I guess the contention is that some have lost their focus and there are actually TEAPARTINOs (Tea Party In Name Onlys)?

    What's next?

Hating Eliminated Lazy Leftover Income Financiers In Name Only (HELLIFINO) Party?

It's gettin' crazy out there, people. Get out your popcorn and sodas. The show began and it's still going on without commercial interruption.

I still go with the Sanity Party over the Tea Party. Senator Reid gets my vote in November.
