Ensign on whether Angle’s ads fair in blaming Reid for economy: “There is a lot of blame to go around”

That's what Sen. John Ensign said when he taped Bob Fisher's "Observations" program, heard on 26 radio stations, before he want on Alan Stock’s talk show this week and distanced himself from Sharron Angle on CityCenter jobs. Ensign spent a half-hour with Fisher, who helms the Nevada Broadcasters Association. I have listened to the tape of the program, which airs next week.

Fisher asked Ensign about the ads and whether it was fair to pinpoint Reid for blame: "Is Harry Reid to blame all by hmself?"

Ensign: “It is a philosophy in Washington….there is a lot of blame to go around... I just have a different economic approach."

On Fisher’s program, we also learned:

----Ensign: “I pride myself on being one of the least partisan people in the U.S. Senate.” That’s him, all right. He went on to talk about Harry Ensign and what a great team it is despite “opposite voting records.” Indeed, his comments about Reid not being alone in the blame for the economy and his words about CityCenter jobs show what a great team he and Reid make.

----Ensign is distressed by the state of journalism, saying the rise in cable networks is because “people see so much bias in the media.” Ensign lamented how the mainstream media are “almost running editorials through the way they report.

And: “You look through and find so many errors in the reporting,” Ensign told Fisher. “There really seems to be a lot of bias in reporting these days.” (I hope the RJ is not offended.)

So, the rise of cable shows is to answer bias in reporting? Really? Trenchant.

----Ensign still believes President Obama’s remarks about Las Vegas caused convention business to be “devastated” and fall “off a cliff” the day after the comments. He said: “The next day their phones stopped ringing…except for cancellations...It’s not my facts and figures; it’s what I was being told up and down the Strip.”

Q.E.D.

----Despite what Harry Reid and many Democrats have said about the stimulus, Ensign says it's not too early to bring back the jury: “The results are in; the stimulus didn’t work.”

What would he have done? Cut corporate tax rates because the country’s are so high. When Fisher pressed and asked about the stimulus helping to avert depression: “I’ll be fair. It did save some government jobs. It didn’t do what could have been done with the private sector.”

----Finally, Ensign sounded a cautionary note after he refused to signal who he might support for president. He suggested President Obama "will be a very strong candidate" and that the Republicans don't have the 2010 balloting cinched.

He did not, however, indicate any interest in an Iowa trip.

  1. The incredible stupidity of the man without ethics who is soon to be slapped in handcuffs Senator...

"It is a philosophy in Washington".there is a lot of blame to go around... I just have a different economic approach."

No, he doesn't. How dare he say he thinks for himself?!?!?! He thinks in lockstep with the Republican Party. Before he votes, he looks over at his colleagues, they point at the no button, he presses it. He voted no on just about every bill there is...unemployment, jobs, health care reform, financial reform, aid for the 9/11 first responders...YOU NAME IT! That's his "different economic approach." Slash and burn and destroy, Nevada voters are not a priority, keep with party politics only is his mantra.

"The next day their phones stopped ringing"except for cancellations...It's not my facts and figures; it's what I was being told up and down the Strip."

Senator Ensign is selective in his remarks. President Obama said things about Las Vegas a few times...and he basically apologized for these remarks.

But Senator Ensign doesn't seem to look at what Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona set into motion with SB 1070. The moment she signed that bill, conventions bailed out of going to Phoenix and moved to Las Vegas. A member of his own party and her draconian immigration laws destroyed their livelihood and helped Las Vegas. But Senator Ensign conveniently don't mention that.

"I'll be fair. It (the stimulus) did save some government jobs. It didn't do what could have been done with the private sector."

Senator Ensign just confirmed that he is an idiot and knows nothing of what he is talking about.

I invite his Most Stupidness to come down in my neighborhood on the stretch of street of East Sahara Avenue between Nellis Boulevard and Sloan Avenue. As I am typing this, I am watching extensive work being done. And this street was in horrible condition.

It is being fixed with stimulus dollars.

But then again, it's totally understandable. Because Senator Ensign is totally out of touch with his constituents. Because he don't represent us, he represents the Republican Party only.

And lastly... "He suggested President Obama 'will be a very strong candidate' and that the Republicans don't have the 2010 balloting cinched."

Senator Ensign finally outlines the truth. And that is basically the Republican Party has NOBODY worth anything of a consistency above camel dung that is worth voting for. And this is clearly the case in Nevada.

  2. Senator John Ensign is bad for all of Nevada. Ensign fails his pledges too help constituents. Senator John Ensign/Office staff are less than honest dealing constituent services.

Senator John Ensign was asked too help with a federal oversight mining problem. Ensign dropped the ball and stuffed his pockets with the very industry he was asked to look into.

There is too much YUK on Senator Ensign that industrial cleaner can't begin to remove.

Senator John Ensign (R) is a disgrace for all Nevadan Constituents and is beneath the Honor and Dignity of the Great State of Nevada and The U.S. Senate.

    Senator Ensign, RESIGN!
