Gov. Jim Gibbons today delivered his veto message on Senate Bill 3, which would have created furlough policies and a four-day work week, because he claims it will actually cost the state money, has redundancies and will cause pay inequities. And several other reasons, too, including a separation of powers issue. His veto message is at right.

Saves money in Utah. Govo trying to look tough leader like for re-election purposes.
Four tens saves money in numerous ways, besides cutting power bills in lower building usage. Consider the fuel saved, fewer greenhouse gases, decreased congestion on our already crowded roadways, and the list goes on in helping the environment. Numerous other states, companies, and programs use the concept of four-tens to give employees more time with family, working as volunteers, and just having another day to go fishing. Gov. Gibbons is extremely short sighted in this matter
I hear he plans some sort of four day week for workers with five day office hours. Utah saved a lot of money than it expected by going with the four 10s.
The approach of not closing offices really undermines a lot of the energy savings. Too bad for taxpayers.
Every single move Gym Gibbons makes is politically motivated, and likely articulated to him by a staffer before being claimed as his own.
