A whole group of gaming companies and others contributed to the $60 million fund that is the Clean Water Coalition for a project now on hold. One of those, the M Resort, is not thrilled that the six figures it contributed is now going to patch the state budget. (The state grabbed the money in the recent special session.) The letter at right indicates someone -- the county or the state? -- may get sued.

Clean Water Coalition or additional taxes? Yep, I would go with the CWC on this one and let it be.
Ummmm...Hey, pssst, M? You had a chance to contribute to prevent this from happening three days ago, but you sent your mouthpiece, Billy V., to tell the world that you couldn't help AT ALL. If you now sue after you had a chance to help and didn't, how do you think the judges in Nevada will see your case, given that they have to stand for election and are accountable to US?
Unbelievable. M gets a chance to help and they say no, we can't afford to help. Then they plan to sue about the solution they decided to have no part in creating. What a bunch of selfish, nearsighted, rich little people.
Think of it this way:
Say you were building a house for yourself - If the state charged you a $1000.00 fee for building a pipeline (or park, or sewer line - whatever) to your house and they did not build it. Then they say they never are going to build it - How would you feel?
You people that think gaming does not pay do not look at where all the state money is coming from. To say they need to pay more is like telling someone they need to loose more.
Clean water is as important as the integration of family. Its not one family, two families, three families divided, more or less importance of all families with or without gaming hobbies.
tbvegas, How should I feel about my HOA that has not provided anything that it claimed it would. I can't just stop paying it though. I feel like this falls into the same category.
Good for the "M". I am glad Jon Ralston exposed this. The resort paid a fee for a very specific purpose which was then eliminated.
It is only fair to refund all the monies on a prorated basis to the people who paid them.
If the state needed more money and couldn't cut anywhere else, they should have taken money or instituted a fee that EVERYONE would have to pay their fair share. Why should a very few be required to subsidize everyone else.
I fully realize we are in a recession and the state was desperate but it does not justify this action. The M has a great case, and likely will prevail if they do file a court action.
I hope the M sues on behalf of everyone who paid in to the CWC fund for a certain project only to have the State take the money to apply to the General Fund all so the Luv Guv can keep muttering his slogan of no new taxes. Adios Gibbons.
Go get 'em M !! You paid - they didnt deliver, thats a contract dispute ,,,,you paid for a service in anticipation of what the project was...GO GET THEM !!!!!!!!!!
I agree the state has gone too far this time. I am glad to see someone is gonna stand up to them.
I disagree. This state works exactly the way the legislature acted during the special session BECAUSE gaming and mining rule this state. If "M" wants a change, they should tell Billy V. that they want to come to the table and help change the tax structure. But if they want to contribute nothin, don't complain because times are bad. This state gives billions in public money and tax breaks to gaming all the time. To ask for 32 million back from eveyone in the industry is nothing.
"Misappropriation of Funds" This is just Wrong! Clean abundant water should remain one of Las Vegas's highest priorities.
If I come home and told my wife I blew the mortgage because on stuff we didn't need because I like to spend, do you think she would let me take ALL the money out of savings to pay it.
Same thing!
Nevada does not have a cash shortage - It has a spending problem.
"Clean water is as important as the integration of family. Its not one family, two families, three families divided, more or less importance of all families with or without gaming hobbies."
@rhpobbar
The other families you mentioned does not want to share their water with us here in Clark County, get my drift?
M & ALL others taken by this SNWA/CWC scam should sue the individual County Commissioner Trustees who created the muck.
Commissioners WOODBURY, BROWN & COLLINS created their "water credit" scam to monopolize water right permits & extort ALL county developers & taxpayers.
The State should sieze the $$$ funds, & the individual trustees who created the scam(s) are personally $$$ liable to M, et al., plus punitive &/or criminal damages.
There all a bunch of thieves SNWA/CWC, The State, Commissioners, Senators, Casinos, and just about every politician and Judge here in Nevada.
SNWA and CWC are robbing us all blind and could care less about the quality of our water.
There idea of quality is whatever the Legal guidelines require and nothing more.
What do they care when the water runs out they'll all pack up and go live high on the hog somewhere else with the money they've embezzled from us.
