The release today of more names (see below) to the Sig Rogich-led Republicans for Reid list is part of the effort to marginalize Sharron Angle in the weeks after the primary. Many of the folks below are Establishment types, lobbyists and others who, not unexpectedly, are backing Reid. I love seeing Michelle Laxalt here (Where's Paul?) These are folks who are turned pragmatic by business, recruited because they are Rogich cronies or scared of Angle. The question is: Does this send the message that Reid is the smarter choice, which could have an impact, or that Angle truly is this season's anti-Establishment candidate, which might help her in certain quarters?

Explore Sharron Angle's extreme and dangerous agenda: http://www.SharronsUndergroundBunker.com...
It shows that Sharrontology Obtuse Angle is so extreme, even sane Nevada Republicans are running away from her as fast as they can! I hope the national GOoP is having fun with their new radical right BFF. If they think Rand Paul has been giving them problems...
Vote for Sharon
Sig's group is scared.
Harry Reid will be history in November
Guess they don't like the bitter taste of right wing nut bars in November.
The only people supporting her is the corkscrew world of talk radio.
Like the phony "News" man on the republican propaganda station.
Yea right: Like she is any worse then the "PROGRESSIVE SOCIALIST" That are in power now. You know those people don't you "The i hate America crowd"
It is heartening to know that some Republicans in Nevada CAN see the forest for the trees.
Ensign and Angle???
THAT would be the weakest Senate delegation in the Nation.
Yea right: Like she is any worse then the "PROGRESSIVE SOCIALIST" That are in power now. You know those people don't you "The i hate America crowd"
++++
Uh huh. Angle with her positions, is clearly part of the "I hate Americans" crowd. Joe Barton who apologized to BP today is part of that crowd. Rush Limbaugh who today said that poor kids should dumpster dive for food if they are hungry is part of that crowd. John Ensign and Dean Heller (who called the unemployed, "hobos") who repeatedly voted against child health care are part of that crowd. I don't feel that the right wing likes me very much or anybody that isn't rich or a corporation very much.
It is good to see there ARE a few intelligent, educated Republicans in NV.
This list look like an I hate America crowd to you??? Like Bush once said (when speaking before a bunch of millionaires) I look around the room and see...my base! These people are bedrock Republicans who are not detached from reality like the Tea Party crowd!
Big deal. Vote none of the above Nevadans. You deserve better then a tom cruise revolutionary and a person who would sell his mama down the river for re-election. Wake up Nevadans!
Not all Republicans are mindless lemmings willing to follow deranged Angle over the crazy cliff.
Sig Rogich and clan = $$ sell outs
I guess they would rather vote for a dishonest, manipulative, back room dealing, conniving shill than a clueless clown.
Heaven help Nevada because it's ignorant voters can't and won't.
I'm all for Republicans supporting Reid, but ...
Aspen Financial and Jeff Guinn?
Public records shows a group of investors filed suit against Aspen and the former governor's son for failing to handle their real estate investments properly. Not exactly a selling point for the Senator.
Sig is twisting so many arms that he'll end up with a hernia. It won't matter though. The Reid era is over. He'll be voted out by Nevada's new residents, who aren't part of the crony system.
She has to get 1 out of 5 people who voted for Obama to vote for her. Good luck.
Any of these people unemployed?
Lost their home?
Business in trouble?
Can't pay their medical bills?
If not...I doubt they can influence anyone but their own house cat (who's is an Nonpartisan anyway).
Other than the Regent and the goofy major of Reno there are no big Republican on the list that really matter.
Most are just people who get funding in one way or another from the big government machine.
The Regent is toast in the Republican Party.
Red: Angle will get 20% of the misguided Obama voters who see "The War is Lost" Harry Reid as his principal tool in destroying our nation.
Harry Reid is 1000 times better than Angle.
Angle is toast.
Sounds like Harry is in the process of raising a "Big Tent" of his own.
If enough Republicants buy tickets for the Big Top, the national Republicant money will go elsewhere and Angle will be like the bearded lady out on the midway.
Not all Republicans are complete idiots.
They need to change the name of this group to "Mormon Republicans for Reid" , bet a dollar to a donut the "church" has its republican members backing Ried. The GOP missed the boat on this race, Angle has no support from her own party and after listening to her, no credibility. Reid wins again.
The SUN asked precisely the right question: "Does this send the message that Reid is the smarter choice, which could have an impact, or that Angle truly is this season's anti-Establishment candidate, which might help her in certain quarters?"
The answer is, obviously, that the tactic can work either way. However, given the extreme character of this candidate, I doubt that it will take long for the tipping point to be reached. Once a critical number of Republicans cross-over, it will become clear that Sharron Angle's unwise positions and intemperate rhetoric have made her unelectable.
To put is more simply: No one who talks about "Second Amendment Solutions" should be seriously considered in any American election. The woman is an idiot and the degenerate political party that nominated her (i.e. my party) has a death-wish.
WHO CARES WHAT THESE PEOPLE THINK!
Think for yourself and realize this country is broke. If we do not change course we will all be standing in line waiting for the goverment to feed us. some of us hate goverment some of us hate corporations but if we don't start putting this country on the right corse we will all be screwed.
I don't know what this has to do with the topic of a litany of rational Republicans crossing over to Senator Reid, if full flight for the candidacy of Sharron "the second Amendment Fundamentalist" Angle but this comment: "Nevada has the highest unemployment in the Nation - Congratulations Harry Reid! Where are all the jobs he has been bringing to Nevada?" struck me as rather absurd.
In a state where the economy is overwhelmingly connected to tourism, gaming and entertainment, what do you expect when the national economy contracts and the investment income of retirees has been slashed? Is it rational to blame Nevada's unemployment on Senator Reid? Or is that just another partisan explanation of a bi-partisan problem?
What was our Republican Gov Gibbons and Republican Senator Ensign doing with our runaway unemployment, oh yeah, they were fooling around with their mistresses instead of doing their tasks as Governor and Senator of Nevada. A couple of white thrash Republicans and now another on the line.
Calling people names like "RINO" and "borderline Dems" is juvenile and counter productive. I hope it makes you feel batter because it harms the dialogue. The analysis of California politics is similarly misinformed. California's politic like that of most of the rest of the country is deeply divided between well-intentioned but unwise liberals and doctrinaire but similarly impractical Conservatives. The legislative product of this mishmash of compromises that give California the worst of both philosophies. Both are radicalized to the extremes; neither is in control yet neither is blameless. This sort of impotent division of leadership leads to failed states. The story of two divided parties shouting slurs at one another, which has for too long been the case in California, is becoming the story of America.
It is relatively easy to project the outcomes of the two political philosophies practiced without restraint. If pure Conservatives rules you end-up with monopolistic-corporate capitalism. an orderly society (like Singapore), sound-money but a society deeply divided between rich and poor, where civil rights are constricted to those rights the big-money boys want citizens to have. In a Liberal paradise you have greater social justice, more equal distribution of wealth (better for the poor but also generally better for the lives of the middle classes), better education, more democracy, generally more social mobility and individual liberty (outside of economic spheres) all of which make life much more fun until, of course, the money collapses into inflation and decades of reckoning come. As Maggie Thatcher said: "The trouble with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other peoples money."
The goal of democratic government is not to become a paradigm of a pure political philosophy but a tool to strike a smart balance that works best for the lives of the greatest possible number of people. That balancing act involves intelligent compromises by leaders who hold the public's welfare foremost in their minds and do not operate from a cheat-sheet of their party's political political principles. America is at a critical point in her history. If we do not get more leaders who hold the long-term wellbeing of the American people above all else, America will fail.
Our country's survival is not advanced by calling people names or by believing that one political philosophy or one religion has ALL the answers where the goal is to dominate then crush the other. That is civil war or "culture war" -- both of which lead to devastation. We are bound together as citizens of one country -- when one siamese twin murders the other, they both die.
In the Teabagger Alternate Reality (TAR) Utah senator Bob Bennett isn't sufficiently conservative.
That's like believing Adolph Hitler fell short as an anti-Semitic.
Literally no one is scared of Angle on any scale. The more she opens her mouth, refuses to answer real questions, and the more voters learn of her obnoxious, ridiculous views she is unelectable. Angle and Palin failed to read the same books and have similar polarizing views. Dead meat is what Angle is.
Just wait until the tapes of her encouraging a state income tax in Nevada are revealed. Her position on property taxes is based on a California system that was and is a miserable failure.
Someone who supports Angle while understanding her true positions is an idiot.
Sharron Angle:
Bring Nuclear Waste to Nevada
Wiping Out Medicare and Social Security
Opposes Reform of Wall Street
Massages for Prison Inmates
..............and the plot thickens.
I guess the word "establisment" is just a euphemism for "good ol boy" and the good ol boy Republicans will go with a fellow good ol boy (even if he is a Democrat) over someone they can't control and use.
Hey,
Thanks for publishing the Nevada 'RAT Republicans for Reid' list.
It let's all of CONSERVATIVE AMERICA (Republican or Not), know who the Treacherous Buggers are!
