So says GOP Senate nominee Sharron Angle, using a Las Vegas Review-Journal editorial in which the "newspaper" calls Harry Reid's claim about 1,400 teacher jobs (funded this week) a lie, in a fundraising pitch.
Some great lines in this one:
Just a few weeks ago, a Harry Reid ad featured a teacher falsely claiming her job was saved by Reid. However, further investigation showed that her job wasn’t even at risk. Now he’s dropped on Nevada voters another whopper- that he just saved an additional 1,400 teacher jobs. But the Las Vegas Review Journal called the ad a “work of fiction” and said that Harry Reid just “made it up.”
The worst thing of all? Harry Reid’s friends in the liberal media have failed to call him out on it.
That’s what we are facing in this race. Harry Reid drops millions of special interest money running ads with men holding machine guns, hinting this grandmother of ten supports armed rebellion, and the liberal media laughs. But while he distracts us with deceitful ads and lies, Harry Reid and his liberal allies plan on continuing their deficit spending and increasing the debt.
We must say enough is enough.
Will you stand with me and donate to our campaign?
Will you stand against the liberal media and help me work around them with paid television ads?
Will you send a message loud and clear that we won’t back down by adding $50 or $100 to our total today?

Like Ronald Reagan, I have complete faith in the American people. Harry Reid thinks that you can be fooled. He thinks that all who oppose him “don’t have the facts”. He is fully confident that you’ll simply back down to his dirty tactics and let him cruise into the Senate for another six years of his liberal agenda.
But I know better. Americans won’t stand for this kind of left wing governance. They want someone in office who will respect their freedoms and defend THEIR interests, not the SPECIAL interests.

Ralston, It is sad that you had to make such an unnecessary comment at the beginning of this article. You just have lost your integrity. What makes it worse is that you were once a respected journalist.
Harry Reid has run a dirty spin campaign twisting the truth from the beginning. He can't run an honest campaign because he has been so dishonest and worked against those of us who sent him to Washington. He can't run on the issues because the stimulus failed, Obamacare is unpopular, the financial reform did not deal with the worst offenders Fanny and Fredie, and he helped spend the future of generations to come.

Jon Ralston is nothing more than a spin type butt head for Reid, I am glad to see that others can see through this. Why doesn't Angle run on her record? After all, she was in the state Legislature for five years. Where are all of her accomplishments? Oh yeah, she has none!
Harry doesn't have to run on anything but Angle's far right views. Every campaign ad he has put out consists strictly of tapes of Angle talking crazy. Moderates and independents will never never vote for her empty rhetoric.
It's time for neo-cons to realize that they made a big mistake by electing Angle in the Primary. Realize your mistake, learn from it, and move on. You guys blew what could have been a home run for your cause!

On Aug. 25, the R-J's news story reported that officials were estimating the funding 'could save or replace 1,400 education jobs in Nevada.'
On Aug. 29, the R-J's editorial called that a lie.

Harry Reid's ads are all lies. Angle never said she'd end social security, kill the Dept of Ed and EPA. Angle never said she wants to require rape/incest victims to carry to term. Angle never said there should be no aid to Katrina victims. The Stimulus Bill didn't save any jobs. The State gov't subsidy bill didn't save any teachers jobs.
If you you really believe those are lies, you should vote for Angle. I would definitely want you to have the option to opt out of social security and bet your future security on the stock market. You should only send your children to schools not supported by federal funds. ANd you should only drink water which is not protected by the EPA I'd even be glad to refund to you your share of the tax dollars involved. The only thing I ask in return is you move to a state where there only like minded people so you f up Nevada any further.

Edspit, I whole heartedly agree with you that the dems will continue to deficit spend for the near term and that the GOP does the same thing. I too am conerned that the level of debt being piled up can, if it continues for too long, have a Greece like impact here.
But I also know that it is necessary in the short term, especially if the deficit is used to help small businesses and the unemployed, not on Big Oil, Big Ag and the military industrial complex that create relatively few jobs. Given a bit of breathing room, the Democrats have demonstrated some ability to shrink deficits (even with a republican congress) but no republican president had a balanced budget since the start of the Depression (except for a brief 2 years under Eisenhower) despite running campaigns against deficits. I'm happy to give you very specific numbers if you wish.

As for "women's" issues, Angle thinks women don't want abortions to be available. While in a recent Gallup Poll, a slight majority call themselves "prochoice, in regular polling on this subject, generally at 75% of respondents want abortion to be available, half of whom do not think there should be any restriction on abortion. And in most of the polls I was able to find, the percentage of women favoring availability was higher than for men.
So, no Democrats are actually very much in sync with the majority of women on that issue.

Some ads are right on. He also needs to point out Angles extreme ideology that is dangerous to this country with facts. And he does in some of them. She has had 7 years in state gov't of saying "no" She will fit right in with McConnell and Ensign(his lacky). Plenty of ammo to use for democrats. If you want a do nothing person in DC while collecting our tax dollars, Angle is it. If you want a well respected, no scandel, powerful senator who has been doing his best to get jobs back here, vote Reid. Reid cannot do this alone. We have a playboy senator, a playboy governor, PG wanting to tax children's milk and baby food and America's laughing stock wingnut of this planet(Angle). That's how this country is seeing her and they are right. Only the Nevada Fox News uninformed do not see this. Although Angle and the tea party have been saying its Reid's fault for all of our woes, they and the rest of the Nevada republicans take no responsibility for their actions. Not the banks, the rich, or the other republicans cutting taxes for their friends and leaving us to pay. Angle has alot of mental and demegog issues they can run on with truth. It's time to use them all fully. Not just the 2nd remedies, social security, and abortion; also, 7 years of saying "no" in the state gov't on important issues. Point that out. Like being with education and taking school team uniforms, paid by the team, and locked up because they were the color black and that's EVIL. All I had to hear from Angle was the lemons-lemonade remark, the scientology-homeopathic rubbish, and "we think women should stay home and raise their children" (whoever "we" is), and I knew everything I needed to know about this medieval dingbat. That was before I saw the black clothing-is-satanic bit, and her quack position against fluoridation. They've had fluoridated water in other States for many years, including the one I grew up in. Saves a lot of teeth and money on dental bills, but I doubt Angle ever considered that. She must have landed here from the dark ages via time machine, because there's no way she could be from another planet, it would require superior intelligence. Angle's the weirdest candidate I've ever seen, and I've been following politics since I was in grade school.
By the way, nobody needs social security and medicare more than women who are now approaching retirement or are already retired. Most of them have traditionally worked in the home and therefore don't have pensions from jobs, or if they worked outside the home, without a college education they were paid wages much lower than men, didn't get pensions, weren't able to save much for retirement and won't get much in social security benefits. There's still a wage disparity between men and women due to companies like Wal Mart, but the gap has narrowed thanks mostly to the Democrats, who have done more for equality and women's rights than Republicans.
Since Angle believes "entitlements" are idolotrous, I haven't heard her say that if elected, since her husband already has a Federal pension, she'll work for free and without those generous Federal benefits. If elected. Which I doubt.

I saw Maddow interviewed on Letterman a couple of weeks ago. She does not represent herself as a "journalist" or a "newsperson." She knows she is a cable-TV personality, and says so.
The Obtuse One is basically correct to identify Matthews, Olbermann, and Maddow as enemies, just as Obama should consider Hannity, Limbaugh, and Beck as enemies.
The cable-TV "news" shows have become so obviously polarized that quoting them to support an argument is ridiculous.
Ralston's article correctly paints the RJ as a cable-TV wannabe, certainly not an objective source for news.

Angle said her god wants her to run for office and she's doing his work. He must not be paying enough if she's begging for campaign donations in the RJ.
Have you ever noticed that when a Tea Party candidate always refers to news reporters that they disagree with, they always say they are being "shouted" at?
And why is it that Republican candidates who use Fox News because it is totally slanted to their viewpoint...all look at MSNBC as being slanted the other way...when in fact they are just assuming because Fox News is like it is, so therefore MSNBC News must be the Anti-Christ? Really stupid logic, if you ask me. Because it is a proven fact that MSNBC News reports news, while Fox News entertains and opinionates only along Republican Party/conservative/Tea Party lines of irrational thought.
From all indications shown, when they proclaim they are being "shouted" at, it's pretty much the same as having the truth spouted back at them that cannot be refuted. And the trend is that they hate that. They are used to getting their way, believe what I say, not what THEY say, because only I know, not THEM. Right wingnut politicians are used to shouting loud and often, much like a north Korean propagandist...hammer something into the brain...don't worry if it's true or not...JUST HAMMER.
But then when someone calls a Tea Partier out for their fallacies and points out the hypocrisy and the total and blatant idiocy and craziness...then they equate that with "shouting."

The RJ twice voted Crazy Angle the worst member of the state Assembly, and that was when she was still in the minor leagues.
In a testament of how deeply the far-right RJ hates Democrats in general and Sen. Reid in particular the Faux News wannabe is supporting Angle is her run for the US Senate big leagues even though she failed miserably at the lower levels.
Amazingly that newspaper believes Nevada would be better served by an unskilled, mentally unstable rookie screaming No! from the backbench than the Majority Leader throwing strikes from the pitchers mound.

Having actually watched several Rachel Maddox shows - its clear she is a rather uptight, rude, and chatty commentator. She seems obsessed by so many demons. I guess the sad part here is that anyone gives her any credibility at all. She is just part of the tabloid press; nothing special and rather bad person with her constant whining
Chris Matthews has both good and bad moments - 100 per cent of the commentators have those.
The clear thing is the politicos should stop being so obsessed by tv commentators - Obama is demonized by Fox and he has nightmares; it sounds like Obama should actually pay a lot more attention to the economy than being possessed by this....

The only clear thing is that Reid hates Nevada; destroyed the economy in the years in office; and is in the pockets of a few casino owners; and could care less about the other workers at the casino. Reid has destroyed our childrens future; passed laws to limit seniors health care; and has not made sure there is a living social security wage. Reid thinks the pennies he gives seniors is something - but they are just getting back the money they paid into the system. (by the way Reid used it to pay for other things.). Reid needs to go.....he is a bad for the economy.

In a recent commercial, she says housing prices have declined 50%, and then goes on to explain that this means a house worth $300k is now only worth $150k. Talk about pandering to idiots.
Then she says this happened during Harry's service. Oops, forgot to mention the 250% INCREASE that happened during Harry's service.
And all you haters who keep on saying the stimulus failed, stop being brainwashed by Fox "News" and learn the facts. The stimulus, in fact, was one of the most successful bills -- financially, economically, and socially -- ever passed by the US government. We've recovered nearly 80% of the money we spent already, and are on pace for a 15+% return on our investment.

Lets start with the premise that no one is perfect, especially politicians. Which means that some one that is objective, regardless of their political bent, has fodder to criticize both the right and the left. For those of you that view Fox News as "fair and balanced", please direct me to any clips of their commentators criticizing anyone on the right. I'll gladly give you links of Rachel, Keith and Chris criticizing those on the left.
Lets face facts. Keith and Rachel regularly show conservatives saying one thing in one clip and virtually the opposite in another clip. This has the effect of ridiculing the speaker in the clip and this offends those that respect the speaker. But this is a legitimate role for the media because it is a fair function of the media to show those contradictions (so long as the context of the clips doesn't show the statements in a way that changes the intended meaning of the speaker).
On the other hand, Fox regularly misquotes liberals, summarizes their statements to change the intended meaning or intentionally pulls their statements so out of context that Fox is misrepresenting the statement by the liberal speaker (example Ms. Sharrod). No rational person can say it is legitimate to pull a statement out of context such that the meaning is changed.
Fox also regularly uses transparent innuendo. An example is suggesting that Imam Rauf, who represented this Nation on behalf of the Bush administration, is a terrorist sympathizer because he has received support from the Kingdom Foundation, which allegedly has terroist ties and which is headed by a Saudi royal family member. Using their logic, Fox news is a terrorist sympathizer because the Kingdom Foundation is a shareholder in Fox's parent company. The logic of both conclusions is ridiculous.
I recognize that a significant part of the anti Reid feeling is based on opposition to the Stimulus Bill and it's supposed "failure". The non-partison CBO however seems to view it as a success, crediting the Stimulus Bill with significant GDP growth, jobs saved and depression avoidance.

I "saved" 200,000 jobs last week by buying a new car.
Since the truth is that we have no parallel universe against which we could measure our alteration in course, it seems clear that we have avoided some of the timebombs from Bush-enomics and handouts to the wealthy during a series of unpaid-for wars and huge increases in government spending in the industrial/military complex.
But we also clearly have nowhere near the growth that we need in the private sector to pick up what the government has begun to catch, a slippery tailspinning economy.
In this world, half a loaf is better than no bread at all.

While no one in their right mind would view CBO as infallible, even conservative politicians do, in fact, rely on CBO's numbers. If you have numbers or sources which offer a different view based on rigorous analysis (not mere opinion) or can point to methodological errors by CBO to suggest that their conclusions are inaccurate, please feel free to share them. An absense of any such authoritative alternative view results in the rational conclusion that "The Stimulus was a failure" is properly viewed as a conservative myth perpetuated by conservative politicians to sway the portion of the electorate that doesn't need facts to reach a conclusion.

While not claiming to speak for all, I for one would strongly prefer that you refrain from the name calling. While I would certainly agree that there is an absence of thoughtful analysis by posters such as BLONDEinGV, that absence of thought is not the same as being stupid. People like her are very passionate in their views, hold on strongly to their philosophical perspective and budge not an inch from name calling. One can only hope that the presentation of facts and cogent analysis might hold sway.

A question for you. It appears to me that you view the Obama policies, as furthered by Senator Reid in his majority leader roll, are not the solution to the economic issues we have faced since he took office last year. I wonder if you would view the polices implmented by Reagan in response the last big recession in 1981-82 as marketly more likely to succeed? If not, are there other specific policies you'd prefer?
