In an error-filled news release, the possible spoiler attacks Sharron Angle and Harry Reid and says he's in it to win it. He also refers to them as "Ried" and "Angel," and he seems to have an affinity for all-caps, but no matter:
PRESS RELEASE:
Scott Ashjian is re-launching his bid for the US Senate!
For the past several months Scott Ashjian has been a gentlemen allowing Sharron Angle every opportunity to blow past Harry Reid for the Nevada US Senate seat. Scott took heavy criticism from the press and heat from Tea Party affiliates outside the State of Nevada.
Scott remained quiet to allow Sharron to muster everything she had to demonstrate she could beat Harry Ried in November without the distraction of a 3rd candidate. He wanted to see if Sharron could dominate Reid in the polls and not try to split the conservative vote. Because of Scott’s love of our country he can no longer stand by and watch Sharron self-destruct and allow Harry Reid to waltz back into the Senate to do Obama's bidding.
Starting August 16th, the citizens of Nevada will see an amazing run for the US Senate Seat.
Both Reid and Angel are career politicians that attack each other on TV offering no solutions to the 163,000 Nevadans out of work.
How can you think Harry Ried or Sharron Angle will be able to create private sector jobs? They have never created any private sector jobs and they have never run a business, all they know how to do is spend YOUR hard earned money!
Scott is a career businessman, having hired hundreds of people in Nevada. Scott knows what it takes to get the local economy going again. While the politicians talk, Scott has been starting the largest Internet marketing company in Las Vegas, hiring high tech professionals and training locals to get them ready to enter the workplace.
This is a Historic time!! Scott Ashjian is the ONLY CANDIDATE in the US to be on the ballot this November as a TEA PARTY CANDIDATE. If you are tired of the same old career politicians doing the same old thing, (Lying to the American People) it is time to send a message to Both Parties!! YOU ARE BOTH FIRED!! WE THE PEOPLE ARE STARTING OUR OWN PARTY WITH OUR OWN CANDIDATE!! WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!!!!
If you are like most Americans and had enough of career politicians from both parties Support the REAL NEVADA TEA PARTY CANDIDATE! Vote for Scott Ashjian!

I am so amused.......
The only way now is for Angel to get out of the race, Scott can beat Harry!
It's pretty clear that if both Scott & Angel stay in, Harry will win.
Angel---do the right thing! The people are counting on you!
I agree - all of you Tea Party folks who think Sharron Angle is incapable of beating Harry Reid should vote for Scott Ashjian! Send him money, too! Help Scott beat both Sharron Angle and Harry Reid!
OK, I have to stop, because I'm laughing too hard ...
It's pretty obvious Dirty Harry will finance this bum's campaign to try to divide the conservative votes. But people know this guy is a scam. Dirty Harry will do anything to win.
He's got to be a 'plant' from dirty Harry.
Haha. Sharrontology Obtuse Angle's campaign is free-falling, so they have to find someone else to blame. After all, "personal responsibility" is for everyone else, NOT for Scary Sharry! So now, it's back to blaming Ashjian and blaming Reid. Even though they can't find any evidence to back up Glenn Beck's newest wackadoodle conspiracy theories, the TP crowd will still eat 'em up!
The only wasted vote is a vote for Angle. Scott is the only non-career politician in the bunch. We need a senator that knows firsthand how to create jobs so we can stop running this country into the ground.
THANK GOD WE HAVE A CHOICE BETWEEN DIRTY HARRY AND SHARRRON. Now I have a reason to go to the polls. Scott seems like the obvious choice out of this unlikely threesome. Harry is bad for Nevada and Sharon is a nut case. Go Scott Go!
Do a quick Google search for "Scott Ashjian" before you get to excited here.
You will be surprised what pops up. Seems he has had his own fair share of problems running his "business". If he can not run a small business how is he going to help Nevada?
Would like to hear some of his plans, details. Not sound bites about Reid and Angle.
I am betting we won't get any detailed facts on how he is going to save our great state.
Pass the popcorn.
Here you go, BobbyG.
*munch* *munch* munch*
This kind of reporting is unbecoming of even the Las Vegas Sun.
It isn't even obvious that Mr. Ashjian has any valid standing to appear on the ballot.
But the message for Nevadans is pretty clear: if you want to change who is in Washington, your only chance this election is a protest vote in favor of Sharron Angle.
Even if you don't agree with Mrs. Angle, Harry Reid has presided in this office for gonig on a quarter century. He was Senate Minority Leader and then the Senate Majority leader throughout the period when Nevada had a massive run-up in speculative activity. Speculative building and home buying. Debt financed exuberance that is now leaving Nevada with 15% unemployment.
Mr. Reid is an Obama acolyte who is a big believer in the power of big government spending your money -- badly. He has presided over the period of the largest %-age increase of Federal spending as a percentage of GDP in American history (save Roosevelt's New Deal).
So while the press continues to cast doubt on Mrs. Angle's conservative views (and I don't agree with all of them) I would vote for Sharron any day over another six years of Harry Reid and his pals driving the country's balance sheet into the ditch.
And Mr. Greenspun's paper needs to start doing a bit more forceful writing on Mr. Reid's short-comings and failure of leadership.
The country is in the tank. Mr. Obama has been President for a couple of years. Mr. Reid carried the torch on ObamaCare and a long list of lousy legislation saddling Nevada.
So wake up my fellow Nevadans. Wake up. Vote Harry out of office.
And as for Mr. Ashjian, please have the goog sense to not waste your vote....
You Republicans and Tea Partiers let your big-corporation benefactors fire American workers and hire foreigners in their drive for "globalization" that picked up steam during the Bush administration. That's where the lie started about their tax cuts creating jobs. Corporations downsized here and "created" jobs overseas. The unemployment numbers began rising and wages dived during the Bush years, and you had Republicans and their corporation cronies in power. And they were so smug saying "the Democrats just don't get it". We got it, alright, we all got stiffed, including the "values voters" who voted for them because their preachers told them to. I remember Harry Reid saying the corporations taking jobs overseas are traitorous, and the loudest ones shouting him down then are the same ones blaming unemployment and the economic crisis on Pres. Obama and the Democrats now. I remember that Republican convention for the Bush re-election campaign, with all those fat Texans in their stetsons wearing purple band-aids. And people laughing at Bush wandering around the oval office looking for WMD. Seems you all forgot those defense contractors who robbed us with their reconstruction in Iraq, that's all falling apart now. Still can't get their plumbing and electrical systems straight. But that's all okay with the Republican voters who now want to send another bible thumper to Washington to "take down" Harry Reid, who's been fighting for their jobs, health care, unemployment benefits and social security, too. All Angle had to do was say God told her to run for congress and the sheep are lining up to put her there. Her only agenda is more power for the Republicans. You all better learn to depend on God to put food on your tables, pay your mortgage and gas-up your SUV's, like Angle tells you, because the Republicans in congress are hell-bent on taking away your last hope that you can do it yourselves.
"It isn't even obvious that Mr. Ashjian has any valid standing to appear on the ballot."
The Nevada Secretary of State has determined that he has standing, Mr. Chachas. After all, he's lived here for many, many years.

"The country is in the tank."
Indeed, it is. And many of us blame Wall Street bankers far more than we blame Harry Reid. Now, you can complain that President Obama hasn't cleaned up the horrible mess created by BushCo and the financial industry fast enough, but let's not pretend that the Republicans have been helping in the cleanup. The plain, unvarnished truth is, you and your fellow travelers are largely responsible for the recent economic collapse. So feel free to criticize President Obama and Majority leader Reid and Speaker Pelosi for their efforts, but don't expect anyone to take your advice on fiscal policy.
Thunderous applause, Bluejeans!
Funny how he reappeared as the pendulum swings back to an even race. This guy was nowhere to be found when Dirty Harry had a lead. Now that her campaign is gaining traction, this guy comes out of the woodwork. This guy is such a plant by Dirty Harry it isn't even funny. Harry Reid is the dirtiest politician in the history of Nevada.
Harry Reid will do almost anything to get elected; he is addicted to politics, and power. This smells pretty nasty. This guy is attempting to split the Republican, and independent vote, want work; we know a sardine when we smell it.
jke1717:
I think you have it backwards. Sharron had an double digit lead in one poll coming out of the primary and has fallen to a 2 point deficit, fairly consistently for the past 6 weeks or so. Check out all the polls at
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/...
I think Ashjian is jumping in because she's vulnerable not because she's gaining traction. And while that may be somewhat opportunistic, for those in the rabid anti Reid group, it doesn't matter why he jumped in because the one thing you can say for sure is that 2 conservatives will split the vote. Harry has to be grinning from ear to ear.
Uh...Bluejeans maybe you should take a look at who's financing Harry Reid. Plenty of big corporations on his donor list. Me thinks you've got your facts wrong.
I wouldn't call most of these Harry Reid contributors Mom & Pop donors. Looks more like a collection of fatcat bankers, casino moguls, people with an interest in healthcare insurance and trial lawyers.

It appears Harry Reid was compensated well for the few phone calls he made on MGM's behalf. Maybe he called his other donors...Goldman Sachs, Barrick Gold, J.P. Morgan Chase. It would be nice if journalists asked a few questions instead of just reprinting the media releases given them by the campaign.

Yeah, Harry Reid, looking out for the little guy....NOT!!!!!!!!
Tea baggers more like it.
Oh yeah, Angle is definitely done, she better pack up and head on home.
Bravo Repukeblicans!!!
I am so tired of the same old line from the Republicans all they can say about Scott Ashjian is that he is a "plant by Harry Reid" get a real clue. He actually is not a plant as many will see as his message comes out. Lets all stay in denial and continue to vote for the real idiots in Washington as our Country continues to decline.
People it is time to wake up all the current people who are in Washington are not doing a good job if they were an actual employee working for your company (which technically they are) you would have fired them long ago. Wake up people we have to start somewhere. Scott has run business before and is currently running one now what has Harry or Sharron done in that area???? He may have had hardships along the way but in the economy who hasn't I ask? The true facts of the matter are anyone who had or has a business dependent upon construction has felt the sting of this current mess we are in. How many Nevadan's who work in the construction field are currently out of work? Scott is making a stand and if Americans don't wake up sooner than later then we have no one to blame but ourselves.
So yeah go vote for Harry Reid because he has done so much for Nevadan's out of work or better yet vote for Sharron Angle because she just can't wait to make jobs for those in Nevada (oh wait thats not her job is it?)
The only vote this November is a wake up call vote and that is for those who do not support establishment, career politicians. America stop voting for the "lesser" of two evils and vote as our founding fathers would have. I am voting for Scott Ashjian this November!
scooter ashcan is back to lift the teabaggers to victory! he has as good a chance as angle. i wish him well, but i fear somewhere in the distant future he'll just be another answer to a trivia question.
I have trouble believing that an informed and independent voter would buy into the Reid strategy.
By misrepresenting Sharron Angle, a lifelong resident of Nevada, as not caring about the economy of Nevada, as not caring if neither her flesh and blood nor her close friends and supporters get better job opportunities, and by doing this on your first post in this forum, you then lose a considerable amount of credibility.
I will give you as little benefit of the doubt that you have allowed me to have with this thoughtless drive-by.
This is a cynical cut and splice narrative from the Reid camp and it should shame you to not recognize it, let alone to bring it to play as a desperate third party vote splitter.
Sharron Angle has the savvy to know her place. She knows her place in a line up of all-stars, it's to run interference for the stars that score, for us. Why would any legislator purport to take that star power away from businesses and workers and thriving communities? Jobs come when confidence comes. Making the tax laws and licensing and the endless inspections and regulations truly serve us and not just hobble us to keep the Old Boy machine chugging is how she intends to serve us. This climate of safety is key, working to get it is hard, it is thankless, and she knows it though you don't and she is willing to focus on this in her proper role.
Any time some jerk promises to tinker with banks and unions to insure that more jobs result then honest businesses step back, stop hiring, hold onto cash and wait it out.
Meaning less jobs.
Not more.
Proves again that Ash!tjan is a dummy for Reid, to pull votes off Angle. Ash!tjan has NOTHING to do with the Tea Party movement. He's a fake and a poser.
"Ash!tjan is a dummy for Reid ... He's a fake and a poser."
I'm not an Ashjian supporter, but I do support his right to run for public office. If you don't like what he stands for, then don't vote for him; I certainly won't. But quit accusing him of fraud, unless you have evidence you can share with the rest of us. I've gotten truly tired of the despicable efforts of weasels spreading lies about candidates who've followed the rules and legitimately gotten on the ballot. If you're worried that he'll draw votes away from your favorite candidate, then try to convince people to support your choice. But unfounded accusations like this are anathema to democracy, and completely un-American.
"Get your heads out of my TOILET DEMOKRATS----the NEW THIRD REICH !!!"
I heart narf:0)
okra...I have some tin foil you can use to ward off the brain scans!
Ashjian, is twice as sharp as Angle, but still has no real policies outside of sound bites.
Chachas should go back to Wall Street now!
voteindependentnv, thanks for that informed and persuasive piece. Could you detail some of Scott Ashjian's positions on issues please. Any details on his plans to address some of our problems would be helpful too. Thanks!
TheAntiWingnut,
You said: "...don't blame Harry, and don't blame the Democrats..."
I'm having a problem with this because if I'm a Republican and I don't know who to blame then I don't know what to do! That's why I watch Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, so I'll know what to do! And they've been telling me to blame Harry and all those Democrat types. But then you come along and tell me NOT to! Then you tell me to blame myself. Oh, boy, now I'm really confused, because I went to a weekend workshop not long ago, which was held for Republicans only. Now they taught us NOT to blame ourselves because that would be "circular logic." LOL, just showing all those demo's, or whatever you call em, that Republicans can think logical too!
So...
Where was I,..
umm ...
Hey Scott
How you going to use the Federal Government to create jobs in Nevada???
The GOP already use the Cut Taxes scam to get votes. What's your detailed plan Scott. Let the people know before they vote.
There's a few things off with the AWNT's posting. He says:
"Let's take a walk down Memory Lane, huh? A Republican-dominated Congress passed the Bush tax cuts using budget reconciliation (you remember that, right? The Republicans recently called it the "nuclear option" in connnection(sic) with the health insurance reform bill. Interestingly, they DID NOT call the "nuclear option" in 2000 in connection with Bush tax cuts)."
First of all, Bush did NOT have a role in the 2000 Congress. That was still Clinton's. Bush had a Republican controlled congress from Jan. 20, 2001 until June 6, 2001. At that time a Republican defected giving Democrats majority and the Senate became Democrat controlled. Democrat Tom Daschle's leadership of the Senate lasted until Nov. 22, 2002. It was just before this change in leadership passed that the Economic Growth tax cut legislation was passed 58 to 33 with 9 abstaining. 12 Democrats joined with Republican Senators in passing this 2001 tax cut law.
Apparently it had a 'sunset provision' to sidestep the Byrd rule, a legislation blocking any tax law which potentially increases federal deficits longer than 10 years.
With this understanding the following is called into question:
"The Republicans were forced to use reconciliation because they did not have enough votes to get the Bush tax cuts through the Senate otherwise. AND because they had to use reconciliation, they were (1) limited to implementing the tax cuts for ONLY ten years, meaning that bill which the Republican-controlled Congress write and passed, and which George W. Bush signed into law, anticipated that the Bush tax cuts would expire in 2010. In other words, the expiration of the tax cuts in 2010 was a Republican idea".....
It would be more correct to say that whatever the Republican idea was, it was constrained by the Byrd rule, a Democrat block.
Sending Harry Packing in November
