Senate Majority Leader responded "with best wishes" to Gov. Jim Gibbons' letter, posted earlier today on this site, on unfunded mandates for Medicaid. The gist: It's a shared responsibility between the feds and the states and I've done my part and I love health care reform. Or words to that effect.

Nevada is ranked near the bottom in per-capita on getting "stimulus" funds.
Yep...Reid has done his part.....not sure what that part is.
Why is it "pork" (bad) when it happens in another State and "economic development" (good) when it's your own.
The reason Nevada gets so little federal funding for its programs is because most of it is tied, as a percentage, to State spending on the same programs. If the State can't be bothered funding programs for its own citizen's why should the federal government be bothered?
That's not true.
Take education spending.

The state of Nevada is ranked in the 21st in state revenue per student in the USA.
Yet, we are ranked 51st in getting Federal revenue per student.
It is one of the reasons why Nevada total per spending is so low.
It is a complex formula that has little to do with state funding levels.
Most of the "stimulus" money distribution had nothing to do with state matching money.
When Harry Reid brings home the bacon it comes in the form of Swine Flu for the citizens.
