The return of Dario Herrera

The former county commissioner, apparently using the Latin Chamber of Commerce list, emailed a solicitation today for his new job at an environmentally friendly printing company. The convicted felon, now serving time in a halfway house, sent his pitch far and wide. I have posted it at right, where he is identified as corporate development veep, along with his business card, where he is identified as an account exec, in case you need some printing done....

  1. Oh good my nemesis is back...

  2. he mite have been busted doin some bad stuff but i remember the dario herrera who showed up at the dedication 4 hector perez at maslow park after the county placed a monument and plaque for the 9 yr old who died n a drive by shooting n oct of 2001.

  3. That's what politicians do, Dodgerchuck. Sad to hear about the nine year-old who was shot down, though.

Myself, I stopped reading Dario's letter after the subjects in his very first sentence, "our friends" and "we," did not agree.

  4. The only accurate point of reference here is "Think Green" - after all, money is what this guy has been about all along...

  5. He did his time for the crime, now let the man get on with his life.

  6. Not even a web site to be found on this new and innovative company. I wonder where the capital came from for Dario to begin a new business? Dario should leave Las Vegas, never to return. I will never use his printing company.

  7. I saw Dario several weeks ago. He looked fit enough to run a marathon. Good luck in your new endeavor, Dario!

  8. I'm sure Dario greatly appreciates having his cell phone posted to the Sun's website.

  9. As Account Executive and/or VP of Corporate Development, Dario should be thrilled to have his contact info mass-distributed via the Sun. Besides, as he says in the closing of his letter, he is here to provide "the best possible COSTUMER service" -- STEP 1: Always proofread because spellcheck is no help with a correctly spelled word used in the wrong context. Attention to detail is a lost art...

  10. Congratulations Dario, despite your previous indiscretions and the few folks that so adamantly feel you deserve further persecution it's good to see you back on your feet. I for one will gladly work with Environmental Ink (www.environmentalink.com).

  11. The reality in life is there will always be haters and people that will envy others (clearly the case here). But for someone to blatantly disrespect someone over a comment thread is outrageous. I know the whole story on Dario and to waste time on trying to knock a man down that has paid his time for what he has done is silly. Let the man move on and live a full life. I constantly forget that everyone is perfect and has never had a flaw in there life. Grow up and move on. Wish you a long and health life Dario.

  12. Let me post a second time on this thread, to agree with those who say "he has done his time." I do happen to believe in second chances, this is the American way. And Dario Herrera deserves the same. That said, I took a further look at his sales pitch; it is rife with errors, throughout. If this man who wronged society wishes to be taken seriously, it is incumbent upon HIM to work very hard to re-earn people's respect. This sloppily written missive, which clearly wasn't proofread, is a baaaad first step.

  13. Dario served his time and now has a family to think about. Let the man make a living in peace. Its printing, not politics...

  14. @ DTK

He doesn't have much of a family to think about. His wife left him, thank heavens.

Just because someone "did their time" does not mean we give them a free pass. Part of the punishment is the redicule and mark on your record. That's why this country, from the beginning, made criminal trials and cases public record. Some countries do not allow press or the public to see the record from criminal cases.

  15. Let the man make a living, he disgraced himself, and his family.....he got caught. He deserved to go to jail, he was not smart enough to turn state witness like the other criminals.

You think your preachers, elected officials, and all those high and mighty people have not done things before.....of course they have....Dario was just stupid and did not cover his tracks.....

Shut the hell up and let him make a living.

  16. @ JSilver

How is bringing up Dario's controversial past stopping him from making a living in any way shape or form? Your comment would make sense if I tied Dario up and hid him in a closet, and I did not let him leave to go to work. Why such an over reaction?

  17. JSilver,
He did more than disgrace himself and his family. He violated all of us Valley residents when he sold his county commission votes for cheap thrills and some cash. So don't you tell any of us to "shut the hell up."

Again though, Herrera did the hard time for his crimes. And he was more graceful than others about how he accepted his punishment. He has the right to now redeem himself and be a productive member of society.

  18. Dario Herrera should run for ... his life. Far, far away from Las Vegas. He disgraced himself and our community. I was one of his supporters and feel violated that he is slowly pulling Nixon out of his ass. Yes, he has a right to make a living - but not in our back yard. Thank-you and good riddance.

  19. I know what Dario could do for our community. Use that oil slick in his hair to heat our homes for the coming winter.

  20. I know some of you haven't lived here very long, but Darrio wants another lap dance paid for by you.Why didn't Jon Ralston mention his name? No wonder Mr Ralston lives in Mt Charleston so he won't have to deal with Vegas

  21. Lats all embrace the Felonious Darrio! Hope he rots in hell.

  22. Countless people do awful things, never to pay an ounce of retribution (or even apologize). Herrera was one of those that actually paid for what he did. That doesn't absolve him, but it certainly earns him the opportunity to build an honest life for himself. Good luck to him in that pursuit.

  23. Dario Herrera always seemed like a nice guy to me. He was polite, courteous, well spoken and he always expressed an interest in and concern for all matters that were placed before the commission, no matter how insignificant. I know in the end he committed a crime, but he has since paid the price by going to jail.
Now that he's out of jail, he should be able to move forward with his life.

    Signed: A republican

  24. Apologies, sincere and genuine apologies are very important to some of us - so, when he writes and sends ALL of the Demorats in Clark County a well-spelled out apology - then, I'll consider accepting him as a guy that's paid his debt to society! Not a moment before!

  25. What about Micheal Vick, Does he deserve a second chance?

  26. Yes.

  27. Why not! The more things change, the more they stay the same in this city.

  28. How about fighting dogs against Liberals?

  29. Another illegal alien on the take.

  30. Many, many times I was in front of Dario for county hearings and even played against him in basketball and was a referee when he was a coach...it can be summed up in 6 words...A Leopard Never Changes His Spots...

  31. ...so your saying there's a chance...
