North Las Vegas Councilman William Robinson is having a fundraiser tonight at the Seven Seas Restaurant and the host committee is quite impressive: Mayor Oscar Goodman, County Commissioners Lawrence Weekly and Tom Collins and City Councilman Ricki Barlow, several assemblymen and other well-known West Las Vegas figures. Why would Goodman, the most popular elected official in Southern Nevada and notoriously jealous of his own numbers, tether himself to someone who looks as if he is sinking under the weight of disclosures of an old FBI probe? Good question. Organizer Johnny Jackson told me today the mayor signed off on the endorsement this morning; no word yet from the mayor's office confirming.

I have posted the invite at right, complete with all the brutal misspellings of names (Morris Arberry, Ricky V Barlow, Harvey Mumford).
