The emails, between Mike Slanker and Doug Hampton and Lindsey Slanker and Cindy Hampton, show the Slankers knew of the affair between John Ensign and Cindy Hampton while they were working in 2008 at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which the senator headed. The previous implication had been they did not know until Ensign's June 16 news conference. Slanker now says he did indeed find out shortly after he hired Hampton, but did not intend to mislead the media.
The emails are at right.

Was it really necessary to publish Cindy Hampton's personal e-mail address?
Slanker did not intend to mislead the media, right, he flat out lied to them. If a Republican lies in the forest.....
The Austrian Emperor once told Mozart that one of his compositions had "too many notes".
That's my reaction to these three people's emails. Too many words, showing too much detail. Do these people not have the brains to say it in person, or on the phone, and not write it down?
If I were a politician, I would be afraid to hire the Slankers. I would be afraid to hire Doug Hampton.
It seems like somebody should be writing a treatment or scripts for HBO or Showtime based on this six way situation. Sort of a combination of Sex in the City, Desperate Housewives and Dallas. I picture Josh Brolin playing John Ensign.
But now, to more important questions. Why isn't the Huffington Post, the National Enquirer or TMZ stalking Cindy Hampton? Enquiring minds want detailed photos of her.
This non-story needs to be put to rest by the Sun and its hirelings.
In response to 'afveteran':
this is very much a real story so long as there is the real possibility that a felony or five, are in the picture. This ain't about the sex, it's about the money and the lies. Either income tax evasion has occurred here, or there's a felony-level case of campaign finance non-reportage. Or both!! Either possibility involves criminal, not civil charges.
Sen. Ensign has answered no questions whatsoever personally. His attorney and his staff have released information without documentation and they are in serious conflict with each other, and with at least some of what Mr. Hampton said in the Ralston interviews. Sen. Coburn may have lied also.
The jaw-dropping sleaziness of this thing also argues for further coverage. All those involved drape themselves over the cross while the 'yuck' factor zooms out of sight for anyone paying attention.
Also, this case is part of a series which is outing a cabal which has operated within D.C. for decades, grooming 'the chosen' for power and indoctrinating them in a personal creed of being non-responsible for their personal foibles. This sinister network needs further outing as well.
Sworn testimony collected by proper investigators is essential at this stage. FBI, IRS, whoever . . . the truth must out.
Follow the money!
