He's using the song in an ad against Jill Derby and the owners of the copyright say they are not happy. Read their letter at right.

  1. Senator Orin Hatch (R-Utah) is going to have to spank Dean for this willful copyright infringement!

A secret bishops court has been scheduled and the paddles are ready.

  2. Using a portion of a song in political speech won't constitute a winning lawsuite. They will lose and they know it.

What they are trying to do is force him to spend campaign money to defend himself.

  3. Actually, KDR, the campaign used the song in both a TV ad and a radio ad (not in a campaign speech), AFTER being told they couldn't.

Seems to me they have a pretty good case.

  4. So, the Republican liars are also cheats and thieves - who knew?

But in our return to a new royal society, where the wealthy live above the law, why is this news?

None of the rules of law apply any longer to the wealthy in America - the laws are only to keep all of us peasants in line!

  5. What a concept, just ask the authors. If they say no, move on.
The show Futurama had a way around the infringement issue/having to pay royalties for "I'm Walking on Sunshine". When the main character Fry sings it he only says, "I'm walking on Sunshine" and then he hums the bars to a bit afterwards.
This same issue happened when Reagan decided to be an idiot and use Bruce Springstein's "Born in the USA" for his campaign, and incidentally he missed the negative aspects of the song.
