Clark County Democratic Party ED resigns

The carnage from the county convention debacle continues. Peggy Maze Johnson, the executive director cut out of the convention by Chairman John Hunt and crew, has quit and is demanding her salary be paid up. Her resignation letter is below:

Members of the E-Board:

As, perhaps a few of you might understand, it has become increasingly difficult for me to continue to be a part of this Clark County Democratic Party. Therefore, I am submitting my resignation.

I want you to know that when I took this job, I was incredibly excited. Even though there was no money in the bank at that time, this was something that I had wanted to do since I arrived in Nevada in 2001 (I am also attaching the proposal, which I presented to the Chair, which I am sure many, if not all of you have not seen). It spells out why this was my dream job. It has been disheartening for me to watch some of you who chose to run to change the “same old, same old”, who came in to reform and build the party and give it back to the people who felt as shut out as you did. You became the same willing accomplices as previous E-Boards that you all felt shut you out.

From the JJ Dinner to now, I have been side-lined, as I am sure you all know. Worse, I was specifically told I could not participate in the planning for the County Convention. I provided the Chair, on a few occasions, different job descriptions of what the role of an ED is in an organization and one specifically for a county Democratic Party ED, with a similar role in their state as this County Party. I not only was not part of any events I was not part of any strategy sessions about where the Party is headed and what needed to be accomplished. This is all part of the job description for an Executive Director’s position.

It is with some regret and some relief that I tender this resignation, It has been my experience to work with professionals and to work on the same page with my associates. Because you did not understand your roles you could not begin to understand mine. What a shame!

Regretfully,

Peggy Maze Johnson

PS: I am requesting that I immediately receive the five months of salary I am due. There was never any discussion in my meeting or conversations with John prior to my hiring about me raising my own salary, contrary to what you were told. I was to be paid when the money was available. I know from the last financial report that money is indeed available. If any of you have any questions about specifics please do not hesitate to call me. I will be more than happy to talk with any of you.
