Broncos go vertical (again), sock it to Chargers

NOW

Just a prediction here, but I think the Denver Broncos' retro vertically striped socks are going to become the horizontally striped Houston Astros' jerseys of the early 1980s. And that by next year, every NCAA Division III, high school and Pop Warner team will be wearing them in various -- and quite hideous -- color combinations.

Somewhere in a bottom drawer of my darkest, deepest closet a fast pitch softball jersey done in various shades of blue horizontal stripes is losing a 25-year-old battle against moths.

But I don't dare investigate, because if there's one thing I have never been able to do, it's look a moth repulsed by fashion in the eye.

THEN

"I like to believe that whoever designed these jerseys knew that Will Ferell would someday be on top of the comedy world, and hoped and prayed that he would don an Astros jersey in a movie spoof about Major League Baseball in the early '80s."
