NOW
One more reason you can't help but like UNLV basketball coach Lon Kruger:
The ad in today's sports section that says "Red Robin is one of Coach Kruger's postgame stops."
I'm not a Red Robin regular but I did order one of their gourmet burgers at the one at the mall one time while my wife was shopping for shoes, and it was pretty good -- although not as good as a Double-Double at In-N-Out. But then, outside of the possible exception of a sack of White Castles at 3 a.m. after the bars close, nothing is as good as a Double-Double at In-N-Out, especially if you order it Animal Style.
But Kruger is from Kansas and doesn't stay out late and Animal Style isn't his style. So I can see where he would prefer Red Robin.
However, I could never see Rick Pitino sitting at the corner booth at a Red Robin, unless he was trying to avoid a woman who is trying to extort money from him, for God and Denny Crum only knows what reason.
The ad also contained a quote from D.J. Allen, the friendly operator of the CoachKruger.com Web site and co-author of Kruger's book "The X's and O's of Success":
"That's when Coach called out to me six words that would forever change my life: "D.J., we're going to Red Robin."
Actually, that's five words and two initials.
But I'm still a little concerned for D.J.
Anyway, you can meet The Coach and D.J. at the Red Robin at 9600 S. Eastern Ave., from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday where they will sign their book, provided you buy one.
THEN
The worst thing about going to White Castle at 3 a.m. is that there is at least a 50-50 chance of bumping into somebody you know whose eyes are even more bloodshot than yours. Like your third-period economics teacher.
