NOW
It's Friday morning, and I just checked Yahoo's list of Top 10 Searches.
The King of Pop, naturally, is No. 1. Cardiac Arrest is No. 2, followed by NBA Draft at No. 3.
Farrah Fawcett is No. 5. ("Thriller Album" sneaked in ahead of her at No. 4).
I can understand Michael Jackson beating out the lovely Farrah on their last day of their lives. But Blake Griffin and the Clippers?
That just doesn't seem right.
I also want to go on record that I still have a crush on Jill Munroe and that I'm sure gonna miss her.
THEN
Although Michael Jackson and his brothers are easily the most famous natives of Gary, Ind., Alex Karras should receive an honorable mention, if for no other reason that he knocked out a horse in "Blazing Saddles" with one punch.
Technorati

"Mongo like candy."
Another Gary native had NBA credentials. Dick Barnett played for NY Knicks. Barnett's trademark was a unique style of jump shot. After leaving NBA, he obtained a doctoral degree.

Remember Dick B. well. Left-handed; coiled his legs under him on his jump shot. As you said, unique. He played at Gary Roosevelt High. When I was a little boy, I also remember my dad taking my brother and I to see Lloyd McClendon play Little League baseball in Gary -- he was that good as a 12-year-old. And then there was Lyman Bostock, who was killed in his hometown during the prime of his big league career.
