NOW
Here's the thing about any holiday weekend -- if you channel surf long enough, you eventually will stumble across a "Rocky" marathon, like on Versus or one of those other channels that shows bull riding and/or guys working on choppers.
Hopefully, when you stumble across it, it won't be when "Rocky V" is showing. That one was really lame.
I stumbled in just as LeRoy Nieman -- that right there is worth the price of this month's Cox Cable bill -- was introducing the particulars before the Apollo Creed vs. Ivan Drago exhibition match in "Rocky IV." And to think I had almost forgotten that Creed had four way cool nicknames: The Master of Disaster, The King of Sting, The Dancing Destroyer, and, one of the greatest monikers ever, The Count of Monte Fisto.
I wasn't a big fan of "Rocky IV," either. But it was better than watching guys gorge themselves on Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs on Coney Island.
THEN
If you are a big Apollo Creed fan -- and who isn't? -- then you owe it to yourself to check out the riotously funny Apollo Creed Travels on the www.
It's even better than watching guys work on choppers.
