When the 51s called up pitcher Mark Rzepczynski from Double-A New Hampshire, Russ Langer thought about placing himself on the 15-day disabled list.
"I had to put my tongue through rehab the first time I tried it," said the veteran 51s play-by-play man. Langer said he had never encountered a tougher-appearing name to pronounce.
For the record, it's ZEP-chin-ski. The "R" is silent and the "zy" is a thin disguise for an "hi."
Here are the top 10 ways (of about 104,245) to misspell (or mispronounce) the name of the new 51s' acquisition:
--- Krzyzewski
--- Letshopehecangetguysoutski
--- Rumpelstiltskin
--- Mister Mxyzptlk
--- Marc
--- Yastrzemski
--- Hrabosky
--- Roger Penske
--- The Human Eye Chart
--- Paris Hilton
THEN
"I've never been hurt by a ground ball, and yet I've got more false teeth (from a batting cage hit) than a Polish fullback."
--- Brooks Robinson
