Nearly 100 employees at UNLV recently learned they would lose their jobs, many due to budget cuts.
The College of Southern Nevada and Nevada State College have also been trimming down their staffs to save money.
The layoffs could hurt student services such as counseling and financial aid, but it's difficult to tell which departments are suffering most. Nevada System of Higher Education officials said to protect workers' privacy, colleges could not reveal the titles of the people they dismissed.
So for now, taxpayers will be left to wonder what the colleges they support are cutting.
Unless, of course, the Sun finds a way to report it.
