A deported illegal immigrant who returned to the United States and sexually assaulted a young girl will be spending another 57 months in federal prison.
Sergio Hugo Hernandez, 31, of Las Vegas, received that sentence Friday on top of a sentence of 10 years to life that he received in state prison for assaulting the girl, said Gregory A. Brower, U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada.
Officials said Hernandez -- already convicted of carjacking and use of a deadly weapon in California -- was deported from the country on July 29, 2003. He then was found in the U.S. on April 6, 2007, during an investigating into the sexual assault of a girl under age 14.
Hernandez was convicted Jan. 9 of two felonies tied to the sexual assault of the girl. In February, he pleaded guilty to being a deported alien found unlawfully in the U.S., and today was sentenced to the 57 additional months in prison.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Henderson police.

It is amazing that our leaders here in Nevada will pass bills to curb illegal immigration, but they won't fund the bill and enact it. In the meantime Nevada is ranked the second state in the Union with the most unemployment per capita. Our casino's and the construction for our casino's are being overrun by illegal immigrants. Nevada is second in the U.S. with home reposessions. How can this be happening with our construction boom that has been going on for years? Our elected officials should not only pass bills to protect American jobs, but they should fund them, and enforce them. Could you imagine a Nevada ranked last in the nation with unemployment? We could bring in unemployed Americans from other states. Americans who need help. When will our elected leaders do their jobs? Too much talk and not enough action.
Gaming couldn't function without the illegals, at least here in Laughlin. Housekeeping is 95% Mexican. Our casinos would have to shut down. We had four illegals caught in Bullhead City, Az. breaking into a place (they all worked at the same restaurant). All they got was sent back to Mexico. I think maybe sending them back after they commit crimes tells the Mexican criminal it is better to do the crimes in the U.S.
Does everyone think....even for a moment,that MEXICANS are the only ones coming into this country illegally across the mexican borders ? DA!! We have an extremely serious problem.It comes out EVEN MORE when something like this happens to one of our citizens.
Why isn't this individual immediately deported out of the country. Reason-----Predators (Lawyers) wanting to make money called GREED. To me an illegal alien has no rights. Get him to hell out of the country!!!!!!
