President Bush won't be lonely when he lands in Las Vegas tonight, even if
his fellow Republicans in Nevada's congressional delegation are unavailable for his speech Thursday.
Mayor Oscar Goodman said the White House called to invite him to greet Bush
at the airport tonight.
Goodman, a Democrat, said this afternoon he plans to attend.
"I have to go, out of respect for the office," he said.
When asked what he thought about Bush personally, Goodman said, "It's
irrelevant."
Rep. John Porter and Sen. John Ensign were busy in Washington and
unavailable to accompany Bush in Nevada. Rep. Dean Heller's spokesman has
not returned phone calls for comment.
