Monte Carlo update

Here's the afternoon update from MGM Mirage on the Monte Carlo, which sustained damage last Friday in a rooftop fire. Straight from the company's statement:

While an opening date for Monte Carlo has not yet been determined, in order to minimize inconvenience to our guests, all Monte Carlo guest reservations are being relocated to other MGM MIRAGE hotels through next week. We will continue to update the relocation schedule as more information becomes available and a reopening timetable is determined.

Incoming guests who do not already have their new hotel information are asked to call the Guest Hotline at (888) 395-0776.

All events booked in Monte Carlo meeting and convention facilities are being relocated through next week. We have successfully relocated more than 100 meetings and events scheduled at Monte Carlo, placing them primarily in space at other MGM MIRAGE properties. All Monte Carlo price commitments to convention groups are being honored at the new properties. Meeting clients with questions are also asked to call the Guest Hotline.

Due to the volume of business and capacity at other facilities, some events have been relocated with the cooperation of other Strip resort companies. MGM MIRAGE has received excellent cooperation from neighboring hotels during this effort and is very grateful for the support.

Master Magician Lance Burton, who performs in the Monte Carlo showroom, was on property today and visited with Monte Carlo employees over the lunch hour. Mr. Burton spent more than an hour in the Monte Carlo Employee Dining Room thanking employees for their hard work during this difficult time, performing magic and signing autographs.

All Lance Burton performances at Monte Carlo are canceled for the time the hotel is closed.

Hundreds of workers are on site and remediation efforts are proceeding around-the-clock to restore areas of the hotel impacted by the fire and fire suppression.

Monte Carlo employees continue to play an integral role in our efforts on site, preparing for the hotel’s reopening. Employees are asked to continue calling the Employee Hotline (702-693-7005) on a daily basis to determine if they are needed to report for their shift at the hotel.
