Protest planned for Thursday evening on the Strip

Want to get a hug from a member of the Minutemen organization for Valentine’s Day?

That’s one of the Valentine’s Day-themed activities planned for the March For America protest slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Harrah's carnival court. The group is riled up about Mexican President Felipe Calderon's swing through the United States this week.

On its Web site advertising the “Valentine’s protest” March For America says: “Mexican President Calderon is coming to U.S.A. to start advertising campaign in favor of illegals and against activists!”

On Monday, Calderon visited Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and he plans to also visit Chicago, Los Angeles and Sacramento during his first tour of the United States as Mexico's president. In a speech at Harvard, Calderon reportedly said: "The worst thing that happened in this country is this anti-Mexican or anti-immigrant perception of people. We need to contain this."

He later added: "I need to change in Mexico the perception that the Americans are the enemy, and it is important to change the perception that the Mexicans are the enemy. We are neighbors, we are friends and we must be allies."
