Two weeks after a rooftop fire forced the evacuation of the Monte Carlo, its owners have just announced the 3,002-room hotel will reopen next Friday.

The fire was accidentally ignited by welders installing a rooftop walkway, when hot metal fell onto the roof and spread to the building’s façade. County authorities are investigating whether to cite the contractor for alleged safety violations.
