How dry is it? No rain in April

Las Vegas didn't see a drop of rain in April for only the fourth time since its been keeping track of its weather history, the National Weather Service reports.

Since official weather records began in 1937, only Aprils in 1962, 1996, 2002 and this month have not reported any rain, weather service meteorologist Chris Stachelski says.

"We're certainly not going to see any rain today, so the record stands," Stachelski says.

From Jan. 1 until today Las Vegas has recorded a total of 0.70 of an inch. The average for the same four months is 2.02 inches, Stachelski says.

An average annual rainfall totals 4.49 inches, but from Oct. 1 until today the valley has recorded only 1.41 inches.
