Gonzalo Tejada-Rivas
Metro Police today said they have found the body of Edith Calderon, who had been missing since Saturday. The woman's ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Gonzalo Tejada-Rivas, has been arrested and charged with murder and kidnapping.
The 32-year-old mother of four had last been seen alive Saturday, while visiting her current boyfriend at Sunrise Hospital. Her image was captured on surveillance video at a Burger King near Maryland Pkwy and Desert Inn. She never showed up for scheduled work that day at the MGM Grand, according to police.
Police received a 911 call from Calderon's 14-year-old daughter reporting her mother missing under suspicious circumstances, police said.
While police were interviewing Tejada-Rivas, missing person detectives found Calderon's vehicle parked on a street near Lisbon Avenue and Rome Street, police said. At that point homicide detectives were called to the scene and began their investigation.
A woman's body believed to be Calderon was found by detectives today in a desert near U.S. Highway 95 and Silverline Road. The Clark County Coroner's Office will perform an autopsy Thursday to identify the body and determine a cause of death, police said.
