Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, after two days of reflection on his debate with Republican challenger Sharron Angle, shared some thoughts Saturday about how he thinks it went.
Reid acknowledged that he “should have been more aware she’d do some unusual things” — he didn’t specify — and said it’s “very typical for her to not tell the truth” and “walk away from positions.”
Reid stressed that he lives in a second-floor, one-bedroom apartment in Washington, D.C., not a penthouse as Angle implied during the debate, and spent much of his personal wealth putting his children through college.
Many pundits declared Angle the winner, but Reid said David Gergen, a senior political analyst for CNN and former presidential advisor, called the debate in his favor.
When asked if he thought the perception of an Angle victory would hurt him, Reid said he wasn’t aware of any journalists or pundits who declared her the winner and said he’d “take Gergen’s word.”
In an interview with Anderson Cooper, Gergen said he thought Reid had a much better grasp of Washington legislation but Angle captured “the spirit of the times” and “probably helped herself.” Gergen also said Reid looked “a little old at times.”
Reid said Saturday he wouldn’t have done anything different during the debate. He did, however, lament having only one minute to answer questions, a format he said “was set for her.”

What a crock!! It was obvious the interviewer was slanted toward Reid. Reid got softball questions and Angle got the tough questions.
Mary,
ANY question for Mz. Angle is a "tough question"...
Appears that poor old Harry has went and gotten senile on us. Can't remember a damn thing important, and only thinks he remembers those things that are in his imagination.
"The war is lost and the surge is not working..."
Hang in their Harry, you will get a chance to retire soon...
Maybe Harry has already forgotton what Jon Ralston wrote just yesterday:
Let's get the easy part out of the way first: Sharron Angle won The Big Debate. Angle won because she looked relatively credible, appearing not to be the Wicked Witch of the West ... and scoring many more rhetorical points. And she won because Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid looked as if he could barely stay on a linear argument, abruptly switching gears and failing to effectively parry or thrust..."
Either Harry has selected memory or is showing his age...
Why do comment from the left resort in name calling? Perhaps, hysteria?

There are no tough questions for Senator Harry Magoo. He does not remember any of them...
Maybe they are under his "closing statement."
The election is lost...
Cadaver, my Cold, Gray Friend,
Why are you so obsessed with me?
It's getting a little embarrassing!!!
I am a little jealous;
You seem to pay close attention to other commenters who's political philosophies don't jibe with your own.
Maybe because you are "frustrated"; Is that it???
Hey Larry, MAN UP and vote for Harry Reid.
What kind of man would vote for a greedy idiot
who wants to steal health care from low wage
Americans?
Sharron Angle is a LOSER.
It's the economy stupid!!! Reid should not expect to remain in power after 3 years as a senate majority leader and spending trillions of dollars but a worsening economy especially Nevada. We still have the highest unemployment and after he promised he will help Nevadans with the foreclosure crisis and create jobs. He keeps saying it's his job to create jobs but where are the jobs?? Our unemployment rate should have gone down by now but instead it rise to almost 15%.
THIS HUGE MESS WAS MADE BY GEORGE BUSH AND HIS
GREEDY REPUBLICAN FRIENDS.
marcvegas, how on earth do you think this huge
mess could be fixed in two years?
You think Sharron Angle, who is worse than Bush
will fix this mess that Bush made?
What the hell are you smoking?
Anybody but Reid! He has to go!
Senator Reid got the wind knocked out of him, what an embarrassment, I almost felt (NOT) sorry for him. Teamster, stop dreaming, I can see Senator Reid heading off to work in D.C,forgetting that he lost the election. No with all jokes aside, Senator Reid have done some good things for the State of Nevada, but recently he's lost his way, I respect the good, but lately the bad over shadows the anything good, Senator Reid is the best friends that illegal aliens ever had.
Rather then focusing on getting people back to work, the Democrats led by Harry Reid passed a slipshod and in some instances a promiscuous Stimulus Bill laden with pork for all the special interests they favor..... Then in the face of what Mr Reid repeatedly calls, " the worst recession since the Great Depression", the senator ignored the jobless people of Nevada by spending the next year cutting more deals with other liberal politicians. Followed by ramming through what we now know is a bogus healthcare bill he never read.
Harry Reid and his party are not taking our money to morally benefit anyone.... The truth is Democrats like Harry Reid want to use our money in order to gain political advantage..... Period.
Don't forget the DEMOCRATIC Health Care bill CUTS $500 BILLION out of Medicare!
Cadaver...
Smooth sailing!
While you are "out there", I'm sure you'll think of me often!
p.s...
Your initials aren't L.F. are they?
Sen. Harry in Washington = Money. Power. Respect.
Seniority means everything in Washington. Who can bring home the bacon for Nevada, Sen. Reid or Miss Angle?
The answer is very simple.
Seniority may mean everything in Washington, but it means nothing to Nevada. Harry Reid has shown that he can supply the bacon for other states, but not Nevada.
Yes, the answer is very simple. Change is good...
To Teamster,
Gee, I wonder why you like Reid !
Please. people of Nevada, vote this evil man out !
If you vote him in again I will have to SERIOUSLY rethink about coming to Las Vegas, and I visit at least three times a year and help your economy, I know, you don't care.
BUT, I am sure many people feel the same way as I do.
And I'm not a cheap charlie, when it comes to tipping and spending, I spent $6K when I was there in Aug.-Sept.
David Gergen knows zip about Nevada politics. Other more competent analysts said that Reid's performance was subpar.
Reid is the obvious choice. Amazing that Angle is still in the race.
Let's "Take America Back" by electing the most extreme out-of-touch ignoramouses we can find. America never profitted from leadership by the dim.
I can't figure out if sherlahdee is voting for Reid or Angle...
NYC.....
I see by your comment you're a rich republican
who doesn't need Social Security or affordable
health care.
I hate to break the news to you but the majority
of Americans do.
That's why I support Harry Reid.
Mr. Reid: You didn't appear aggressive or take on Angle as you should have. I attributed your attitude to your Mormon religion. Never disrespect women in public. Seem namby pamby. You ought to get rid of your Mormon advisors during this campaign. The other thing that struck me odd was that you did not stress that Angle, as a rookie, could never do anything for NV as you did to bring about the new Hoover Dam bridge which brought in untold millions and thousands of jobs to NV. Angle could never do that. Come on, Mr. Reid!!!
@Larry V.: I support Senator Reid.
When I say "...leadership by the dim...," think W, Palin, Angle, the Delawarian Witch, Reagan (co-starred with a chimp), Paladino, Gibbons, Ensign, the Chicken Lady, the Appalachian Trail Hiker, etc.
I am glad that sherlahdee is voting for Harry Reid.
I noticed that Mr Reid wasn't wearing his knee pads tonight? Someone must have told him that Obama wouldn't be there? Mr. Reid do you think Nevada really needs more of you selling us out?
No way Reid could have attacked Angle the way she attacked him, he would looked like a jerk talking hostile to a lady. Hes a US senator and is better then THAT.
Didnt someone tell her she is going to be in debate, and would need to support her accusations and views with facts? She acted like she was at a tea party rally with her rehearsed campaign slogans. She had no class, respect for the voters intelligence and did not give intelligent and honest answers. Shes a loser and I hope a loser Nov 2, how is there any question?
I'm not particularly impressed with David Gergen's impression of Mr. Reid's performance. He also felt Jerry Ford won his debates with Mr. Carter in 1976.
