New ad accuses Joe Heck of opposing green jobs

The League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund, which works to elect candidates who promote environmental policies, launched a $200,000 ad buy in Nevada's 3rd Congressional District today on behalf of Democratic incumbent Dina Titus.

The ad depicts Republican challenger Joe Heck as opposed to clean energy jobs.

As evidence, it cites Heck's support of a "No Climate Tax" pledge circulated by Americans for Prosperity, which advocates for free markets and limited government.

"Heck would prefer to stifle Nevada's cutting-edge clean energy economy rather than promote policies that would create jobs and increase investments in the state's already profitable renewable industries," said Tony Massaro, the Victory Fund's senior vice president for political affairs.

The Heck campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

  1. Conservatives LOVE to denigrate "Green Jobs"...

"It's just make-work; all this 'green' junk is a by-product of AlGore's Global Warming Hoax! We'll
lose money on all this green garbage. Who NEEDS a clean planet, for crying out loud?"

The Conservatives LOVE to rip on President Obama for his "out of control spending", regardless that it's being spent (wisely) to repair damage done by their own party, and complain incessantly that "our poor, poor Grandkiddies will be sodden with the debts of the great Socialist Obama." Yet, they don't give a rat's ass about the environmental damage their own party's policies would do to God's Green Earth... because, I guess, it's better for their poor, poor Grandkiddies to have lots of money and live
on a stinking, polluted Planet Earth.

  2. So Mr. Heck feels that any business venture that is solid, has a profitable market for its product or service should be able to grow succeed in a free market without "government policy" ???

Where did he get such a stupid idea as that??? Could it have been from a Business 101 class that is taught anywhere and everywhere in this country maybe???

IF a business or industry can NOT exist and be profitable WITHOUT government assistance and subsidies, that business or industry is a failure from the start !!!

Mr. Heck's belief in Free Markets proves he supports green jobs, or blue jobs or any color jobs, as long as the marketplace is there and supports the end result of those jobs as well.

  3. Ms. Titus' claim is just another political stretching of the sort "he wouldn't go from A to B therefore he is somehow against Z." We've had too much of that nonsense already.

As to "Business 101" and religiously-held beliefs contrary to fact. Let's look at Exhibit A, Las Vegas:
What percentage of business is done with people who use airlines? And who subsidized the development of airlines, aircraft, and airports? (Answer: the Federal Government?) And who still subsidizes air traffic through the (government-run) Air Traffic Control System? (Answer: the Federal Government). What percentage of our business is done with people who use highways? And, who designs, builds, and finances those? (Answer: the Federal Government, both directly and indirectly through State governments). Having 100% of customers come and go via government subsidized means should not be an eye-opener for adherents of the Religion of Business 101 because Las Vegas' business depends on those subsidized means of transportation.

What percentage of our freight moves via air and highway? (Both subsidized.) What percentage of our freight moves by private railroads? And who subsidized the building of those railroads now run by successful private businesses? (Answer: the Federal Government)

Private business is both desirable and useful, but we should not make ourselves willfully stupid during our Biennial Silly Seasons to the point of denying the value of -- and sometimes even the necessity for -- government encouragement in proper cases.
